No idea with the Iron pills sorry, but I would say its cos of your diet. I notice with DH when he's not eating good he has no energy and feels like crap.

isnt it iron that doesnt store in your body.??? i do know that vit c helps your body absorb iron, and that tea with meals will prevent your body from absorbing the iron it needs. so OJ with your meals will help and if you are craving veges then you should eat some, cravings are normally when your body is telling you it needs something, so you should follow all cravings, even chocolate... or should that be especially chocolate...?

Iron does take a while to build up in your system, so you should probably expect to start feeling the effects of the pills in 2-4 weeks.
Are you taking high dose pills? The ones I take, Ferrogradumet, are recommended to be taken with food as they can make you nauseous on an empty tummy, could that explain the crappiness?
And I second everything GandT said too!
Hope you're feeling better soon Deb!

I've been on and off them all my life, usually it takes about 7-10 days to start feeling an effect from mine. But if you aren't eating that fantastic it won't be helping with how you are feeling.

Iron pills can often make you feel yuck if the dose is too high or your not talking it with food. You should feel the effect within 7 -10 days. if not and your still feeling average talk to your Dr as maybe able to change doasge.

I was told it'd take 1 - 2 months on Ferrogradumet for my iron stores to be up again and me feeling better for it. Yep - take them with food and some vit C, but not with any caffeine or dairy (both will block them from being absorbed). Hope you're feeling better soon, Deb - it sucks being lethargic when you've got littlies to run after!

I'm sorry you're not feeling well Deb
Definitely try and cut back on the junk foods - but perhaps slowly over a week or so, so that you don't end up making yourself ill by going cold turkey (it sounds silly, but the sugar etc does leech out of your system slowly, and can make you feel really bad while it does).
Once you've got your diet sorted a bit, see how you go with the iron tablets. If you're still feeling unwell, I'd maybe just check out with your Dr that you're not reacting badly to the tablets - some people can't take them.
