Topic: Miscarriage confusion??? Posted: 14 March 2011 at 9:38am |
Hi all, am hoping some on here will have words of wisdom for me as there is little out there.
The story so far, Found out I was UTD about a week before and according to cycle dates would have been just over 6 weeks then on Wed last week I suddenly started having mild cramps and then heavy bleeding, got a GP appointment (new area, new GP) for that afternoon, went in she did an internal and sent me to get bloods, making no comment at all on the situation, and booked a scan for Thurs.
On Thurs went to get scan no heartbeat and in report stated extensive bleeding, but sac still in place. Back to GP no real answer sent for more bloods the following day. Bloods came back Fri afternoon via GPs secretary who reported that HCG levels were still rising and had almost doubled, she had no one to check with and could give to further information.
Now am waiting having been told to get another scan in 10 days time! 10 days seems an awfully long time to wait. It is all very confusing and scary, the other hard thing is as I am still feeding DS I have no other usual pregnancy symptoms all I know is that this is very different to last time and I don't really know what to think, do, expect.
Sorry for the novel but any words of wisdom positive or otherwise would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

If you don't wanna wait the full 10 days could you do a little bit of fibbing and say your in alot of pain or something so you get an "urgent scan". That seems very dumb and painful mentally to wait 10 long days!

I don't have any advice (though I think Stacey's idea is a good one) but wanted to send you some cyber hugs What a horrible and confusing thing to be going through!

kebakat - from all the icf cycles that I have had with one successful BFP unfirtunately followed with a MC at 6/7 weeks - we were told the earliest possible chance of seeing the heart beat was 7 weeks but at 8 weeks you have a higher chance of seeing it.
Wish you the best. It is good news that you HCG's are still going up.

I had a major bleed at 8 weeks pregnant. I passed huge clots and alot of blood. It was hideous. My MW came over immeadiately and looked at the clots etc and decided it was a complete miscarriage. I was happy to leave it at that.
She rang me 2 days later and I said I was still having waves of nausea so she sent me for bloods 2 days in a row and it showed my HCG levels still raising. I was sent for a scan which showed a wee 8 week old baby and an empty sack but there was soo much blood in the uterus they couldn't tell much.
I then had to wait 7 days for another scan so they could confirm everything as they wer hoping the blood etc would have cleared. It had and they could confirm there was a HB and I had lost a twin whose sac was still there so needed a scan in another 7 days. This went on for 4-5 weeks while they sorted it out.
Its possible they need the 7-10 days to give yoru body time to do its thing. I knwo its a hideous wait but fingers crossed for you.

Thank you ladies for your support, it really helps. Waiting is not my strong point for anything let alone this! I am now at the stage where I just want to know one way or another. Had more bloods taken yesterday so hopefully get results from those today.

Sorry to hear of your problems Bets1 - good luck with the results, itis good they are still rising
With my first MC I was around 7 weeks and we had no heartbeat and the baby measured 6 weeks. It was too close for them to call whether the baby had died or just hadn't started beating yet.
We had to also go back a week later, which was just aweful as I knew I couldnt wait that long. Waiting is not my strength either.
Unfortuntately we didnt make it to the next scan as I miscarried before then. It was very sad but a relief at the same time IYKWIM as it was just breaking my heart not knowing and I was getting very upset.
Fingers and toes crossed for you

Thank you all for all your supportive words. Just had another scan this morning and have seen a heartbeat, very reassuring although now opens up a whole lot more questions, what does the bleeding mean, is there a higher chance of a complete miscarriage happening? Pregnancy the trials and tribulations. All positive for me for now and wishing all the rest of you the same some time soon x

Hey, I had a heavy bleed and awful cramps with my daughter(Ive also had a M/C which was before we had our first child), with my daughter though, I had bloods and levels were rising but on christmas day I got more red/brown bleeding and little bits in it, but cos the levels were going up I tried not to worry too much. Then in the new year I got bad as cramps and red bleeding and I was so sure Id lost her, I was nearly 8 weeks at the time.
Scan showed a wee heartbeat and a baby growing that matched my dates, but I had a hemmorrage under the pregnancy sac. After my scan i bled red for a day and then it went brown and eventually stopped.
Seeing a heartbeat is great though!
