i went looking for little swimmers for Ella bella and could only find huggies ones in large or medium. Medium being 7kg plus. Do they make small? Are there any other brands or is that it? before i go searching auckland.....

When I looked, I could never find any that fit smaller than 7kg.... have you thought about a reusable swimming nappy??? They might make small ones????

I don't think they do little ones as I had to get Rhyley the 7kg plus - although was close to that so wasn't too much of a prob, funny how they start at Medium though you'd think they would do that size in sm so to not confused us mummie.
So sorry can't help just don't think they do them. Have you tried the med swimmers they are a snug fit - if you want one to try I can send you one rather than you having to buy a whole pack - although eventually you will use them when she grows.

I've never seen them in small.  The pools here recommed you don't take them swimming until they're 6 months old, so maybe there's not enough of a market for them?  Hubby put Ella in a friend's pool in a normal nappy... nothing bad happened!  but I'd suggest looking for a re-usable one too.  That's what I'd do if I was brave enough to get into togs and take Ella swimming!

OK Huggies make a small size from 7kgs. Swimming pools don't recomend that you take your child swimming before 6 months as they can pick bugs up easily. To this I say rubbish (and I used to work at a pool). I have just bought a reusable swim nappy (a brand beginning with P, small size 3kg's plus) and plan on taking Josh swimming after the school holidays finish. I took Andrew swimming at about 3 months and had no problems.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I took Rhyley at 4 months - they are not so stricked here, good thing about small towns I guess.

I've only ever seen Little Swimmers from 7kg, but I used them on Maya when she was smaller than that with no probs.

I bought the gremlins Bummis swim naps from Snazzipants, I bought Med which was a wee bit big when I first took them swimming around 10 weeks or so, but now fits them well.

You need to be careful that the baby is old enough to regulate their body temperature. When (what age) were you hoping they would fit BS?

Its lucky our pools here are heated. I wouldn't take him swimming until he was older if it wasn't. I am too much of a wimp and ofcause not good for baby.

You could always bring her over to Mt Albert - the gremlins are starting their lessons with Swimsation there next week, and Maya has been going for a couple of years, the instructors rock.

I'm with you on the water baby thing - Mum was a NZ rep swimmer and had me in the elephant pool at Waiwera at 6 weeks too (it helped that I was born in Dec so it was warm). I was a competitive swimmer as a teenager, and my sister teaches swimming so we're all pretty water saavy, and Maya must have been about 8 weeks old when I first threw her in. The gremlins have had one dip in the ocean and a couple in Mum and Dad's pool, but it's harder with them coz I need someone else to help me cope with two of them in the water.
