Hi everyone,

We have a couple of overseas trips planned in the next year and I need some advice on the best umbrella stroller to buy. I want one that is really small, still comfy and one that DS will be able to recline in if he needs sleep. We also have a P&T Vibe but don't want that getting trashed on the journey (one trip is to the UK) so have been looking at the P&T Smart as an option.

Any recommendations???? (Have also posted this in product reviews but thought I may get more hits over here!)

I need recommendations too! We're going to the East Coast of the States when DS is 2 (end of the year) and he's quite chunky. Recommendations for heavier kids would be great too!

I'm looking at strollers at the moment too! Love the look of the smart - but I do think that it still looks pretty chunky when folded down and that if you've got a decent buggy (like another P&Ts) that you might want something that folds down a bit smaller. Also, the smart doesn't recline past 4-6month babies. I don't think you can go past Maclaren as a brand for strollers...

I don't have one at the mo but have been looking at one for the same reasons (going nowhere quite so exciting though!) and the Milano layback stroller from babycity gets my vote so far - reclines, has shopping basket, good sized hood and folds up super light and small and was on special for $100 (not interested in spending anything more than that for a cheapie runabout!). Perhaps worth seeking out for a try?

If it's mainly for travel, I'd really recommend the Quick Smart Travel Stroller. It folds small enough to fit in the overhead lockers on planes

My only gripe is that I find the handle quite low (I'm quite tall) but it doesn't break my back or anything. You can get them really cheap in Farmers when they have a sale on

I have got this http://www.babyfactory.co.nz/shop,product,84735.html

The thing I like about it is that it goes up to 55 lbs and the hood folds right over the kid and yet it is still very light weight.

When I was in Australia we found a Maclaren on the side of the road!! Filthy, but with a good scrub it was in perfect condition, and LOVELY to use!

I have a Phil and Teds Smart Buggy and I LOVE it. I can put it up and down with one hand and Lily on my hip. Bit pricey ($299) but i've used it since she was 6 months old :D

http://www.babystuff.co.nz/shop/BABY+BUGGYS/Phil+%26+Teds+Buggys/Phil+%26+Ted+Smart+Buggy.html

oh edit for more info! They just released converter attachements so you can turn the seat so bub faces you and it reclines a bit more. I wish I'd got the peanut and capsule when Lily was a wee thing, its almost like having one of those snap and go stroller things for the capsule but a bit more stable and stuff. You can get a storm cover and mesh shade thing too.

We have a Quinny Zapp, fantastic for traveling which is why we got it. It wasn't cheap and doesn't recline so perhaps not what you are after, but it holds children until they are big. Has a carry bag with a strap so you can put it over your shoulder too. Very handy.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for info, Have looked at Quinny Zapps but really want one that reclines! In UK they have brought out a Quinny Zapp Xtra which reclines, but doesn't fold up as small....really like the Maclaren Quest but is quite pricey too....

Does anyone know if anywhere other than Baby City do the Maclaren Quests???

I also had a look at Farmers and couldn't see any Quick Smart Travel Strollers?

I might end up getting a cheapy (like a Childcare Rover or something similar)

Ohhh that's a shame if Farmers have stopped stocking them. It's such a great wee stroller. Great value for $149.

Hope it's not yet too late, but nevertheless, for future moms asking. If you want a lightweight, comfortable and reclining umbrella strollers, I suggest you get the UppaBaby G-Luxe. There are reviews on umbrella strollers that you can find here at http://www.momsbestumbrellastrollersreview.com
