carseat guru help please

i think that once their ears reach the top it is time for a new one. Otherwise the other indicator is where the seat belt strap sits. If it is above their shoulder then its not good. (i think) What sort of carseat is it that a 10 month old is too tall for it?

Its a Milan convertible carseat from farmers. I've been getting concerned about it for a little while but dh keeps saying that his legs will grow and his torso should stop but it doesn't seem to be.
The side bits (which he can rest his head against if that makes sense) start at the top of the carseat so his ears won't be above them till the top of his head his already over the top of the carseat. Hope that makes sense. I'm bit confused about what you mean about the seatbelt strap. The harness starts just below his shoulders (would start about 1cm below his shoulders) and the manual says the harness should start below his shoulders.

ds is exactly at 1 inch below the top of the carseat, guess we are getting a new one. This time I am going to be adamant bout the radian.

Is this the hipod milano? With the toy bar? DS outgrew it by height by the time he was 5 months. Totally blew my mind.

I think the "hype" as you say refers to the fact that it is one of the best car seats on the market today. A child can RF in it up to 20kg (my SnS only goes to 12kg RF and 18kg FF) which means that every child should be able to RF up to at least their second if not third birthday. FF limit is a whopping 36kg, in theory you could have a 10 year old in a 5 point harness. Awesome. The seat expires after 8 years as oppose to the usual 6 years. It is nice and narrow which is a big consideration for those with 3 kids in car seats and a regular car. It has a reinforced steel alloy frame which makes it one of the strongest on the market. Do I need to go on?

They are so epensive though. If you were having several children buying one for each would be incredible. Yes they are great but not eveyone can afford them.

We have a ezyswitch which is the same as the farmers hipod. And if my 18 month was still rear facing she'd still fit in it height a weight wise. So they aren't too bad.

There are other options that don't cost quite as much as the Radian. There's the Cosco Scenera for one, which has very similar weight limits at less than half the price - Baby on the Move stocks these from memory. There's no way I could ever afford to get Radians - not when needing 2 at once - so I did research alternative seats.
