Hi girls,

Just wondering if anyone is with Repromed Auckland? I have had 4 failed IVF cycles with Fertility Associates in Auckland and see that Repromed are at least $3000 cheaper per cycle than FA. So we think we might change to Repromed, as may as well save some money on this journey as well! Have one more frostie left so we thought we would do the last FET with FA then switch to Repromed.

Apparently its good to change clinics after a few failed cycles. Has anyone done this?

Really feels like the impossible dream getting pregnant at the moment, but got to keep positive and not giving up yet!

Look forward to feed back on all this!

Cheers

Sorry Happygal I don't have a answer for you as we are using F+ but didn't want to read and run. Good luck with your FET and hopefully this questions won't need an answer becuase you will be BFP. Positive vibes going your way.

Hi Happygal,

I have just started at Auck Repromed, our specialist is Guy Gudex, but we have only had one meeting with him so far, the initial appointment so can't give you too much feedback at this stage. He seemed very knowledgeable and I felt comfortable aduring the appointment and very hopeful.

Have you been told what might be causing BFNs in your IVF journey? FX this FET will be your lucky one, baby dust to you x

Hi Sunshinewife, thanks for that info. Is this your first IVF cycle? Wishing you all the best for it.. I actually made an appointment to see Neil Johnson today on 14 March, as heard good things about him, so looking forward to the appointment. I have unexplained infertity so FA aren't too sure why I am getting BFN's, they thought maybe it could be an implantation issue, so have been on the Colorado protocol to help with that. Think its such a numbers game tho, so hopefully just a matter of time! Hard tho!

Hey Fozziebear nice to hear from you, hope all is good with you

Hi Happygal,

Yes it's our first IVF, picking up the drugs next thursday and hoping for the best.
Have you tried acupuncture at all? I just found out a workmate is 14 weeks pregnant after third ivf, she swears the only thing they did different is doing acupuncture around the last ivf cycle and it worked.
Another workmate has been seeing Neil Johnson and says he is really good, she is expect her little one end of march.

All the best with your app, it'll come quick and hopefully they have some positive feedback and suggestions for you to try next. Fingers crossed x

Hey Sunshinewife,

Yay that is great you are picking the drugs up next week! Won't be long to go! Yes I did acupuncture the last two cycles, I did find it good.. But with all the money we are spending on IVF now, not sure we will do it for next cycle!! Hey that is good to hear your workmate says good things about Neil Johnson. Also another friend is seeing him and really thinks he is great!

Fingers crossed for you this cycle!

hi happygal - just wondering where you are at now? We are considering changing from FAH to repromed akl. We have appoint with Dr Gudex very soon.
Its a hard decision to change as we have done multiple cycles with no luck at FAH. DH is keen to check out repromed as with our couple of meetings with him he seems very switched on.
Love to hear how you are going too!

Hi Happygal,

I am with Repromed AK.. and Guy Gudex is my Dr. DH and I really like him. He is friendly, knowledgeable and we generally feel real comfortable meeting with him.

He started off doing 3 rounds of clomid, when that didn't work he send me off for an HSG... only to find I have a blocked tube. We are now in the 2 week wait, waiting to see if our first IUI has worked. I've found the nurses all really caring and generally lovely.

I hope that you have quick results with them.

hugs

Hi all, I am new to this forum thing, so please bear with me am not up with the short cut words and initials for things yet!
We are with Repromed in Auckland. Found out only about 6 weeks ago that husband has very low sperm count. Have done two rounds of clomid unsuccessfully and are starting ICSI in a few weeks. We have been dealing with Guy Gudex who has been very forthcoming with information. He tells it how it is and is all about facts and numbers which we appreciate.
Still trying to get our heads around this infertility thing so would appreciate to hear from anyone who is in the same boat as us, at the same stage and at Repropmed. We are both 29.

Hi Blushng poppins,

We are with Guy too, had an unsuccessful ICSI in March :( and have just picked up our drugs for round #2 starting mid October. I like Guy, and nurses at Repromed are nice too.
What protocol will you be doing? Short/antagonist?
My hubby also has very low sperm count (1 mil at best, and low motility and morphology....but still enough for ICSI. This time round we have opted for a TESA where they take the sperm directly out of the testicle with a needle, hoping it'll give better quality swimmers.

Good luck with your round coming up!

Hi SunshineWife,
Thank you for your reply. We are going on the short/antagonist (one month) protocol. I'm not exactly sure of the specifics.
My husbands sperm was 8 - 10mill, low motility with good volume, 5 - 7ml.
As far as we know everything is okay with me and have been ovulating monthly. We have just finished second clomid, so when next period starts will begin the drugs. Period due in a week and a half, unless some unbelievable miracle and I am pregnant naturally! But have learnt not to get my hopes up.
Am fearing the injections and drugs. Is it as bad as it sounds?
I hope you don't mind me asking but were they are able to give you any reason for your first cycle being unsuccessful?
Look forward to hearing from you

Hi Blushing poppins,

The injections are a piece of cake, believe me! They didn't hurt, my DH did them for me, we had no problems at all. There are much harder things in the process than injections...waiting for the phone call to hear how many eggs fertilised, how many embies you have etc...and the dreaded two week wait after the transfer... I actually really missed the injections when we finishes the protocol...they just made me feel like we were 'doing' something to get our baby, provided a bit of a structure to this journey..really, don't worry about the injections at all. I also didn't have any side-effect (i don't think), no hot flushes or headaches....a little emotional one day I think but dont even know if that was drugs related or the TTC journey itself!

They didn't really have any reason to give us as to why it didn't work. I had 8 eggs collected, 7 were mature, all were ICSI'd but the following day only 5 survived, then next day down to 3 and by the time of transfer we only had one good embie :( so the drop off rate was high.... they didn't say anything about my eggs quality (I think sometimes they are able to see if eggs weren't great quality) but mine seemed fine, so it could be they didn't pick the best swimmers for ICSI (IVF would have been better I feel as the strongest swimmer would have fertilised the egg rather that the embryologist picking one out of a million!!) but we don't have good enough sperm for IVF.
good be just bad luck...the FS just said that the more attempts we have the more chances we get andhopefully it works next time. Not very reassuring, ah!? but oh well....
We've changed lots of lifestyle things, been doing acupuncture, change the diet, seeing a naturopath and now a chiropractor too so feel we are in a much better place now starting round 2.

Hi SunshineWife,
Good to hear some feedback on the injections. At the end of the day I dont care too much for them as Im at the stage where I will do anything... even if it means injecting myself 10 times a day!
We have changed a lot of things in our life too from giving up coffee and alcohol completely, eating heaps of vitamin C and staying fit and healthy. Havent gone down the acupuncture route yet, but something we would consider.
Thanks for the feedback!

hi girls,

Question for you with regards to the Egg Collection procedure. I have heard that Dr gudex injects a local by your cervix before they start the procedure. Anyone had this done? What was it like? Did it numb the area completely so hardly feel anything? I also presume they give you sedatives too.

I have had multiple cycles at FAH and had both sedation and general Anesthetic. Will be interesting to hear how Dr Gudex does the procedure.
