I am after something like this:
Wooden Cubes
Does anyone have any ideas of where I could find them?
I've found heaps of coloured blocks and plenty of different shapes, but I'm specifically after un-coloured cubes of around 1-2in in size.

Hmm, I looked for plain blocks last year for DS but I don't remember seeing any completely plain ones. Great idea though, I like the ones you linked to!

Could you not just make some? Like get a piece of square timber and then cut it up, quick sand on the cuts and there you have blocks

I made my own, (well didn't finish them all) bought a piece of wood from mitre 10 and cut them down to size and sanded them. Kinda following what this blog did, adding pictures to them. (just make sure its untreated wood)

Hmm, I wonder if I could make them myself? Could be a bit of fun, might try bunnings on the weekend, thanks for the suggestion

Oh thanks for that,..I have plain wooden blocks and intended to paint pictures on them but never have, think I will do this now!!
We got ours from a wooden toy maker at a craft fair!

Yep, make your own! They're so overpriced at shops. I made 100 plain wooden blocks for Thomas out of 3m of untreated 2x2 wood. Imagine how much 100 square blocks would have cost in the shops? It cost me $25.

I made my own photo blocks from a sheet of mdf so I can't imagine making blocks like that would be very difficult. I'd just do it outside on a nice day while my boys played then it wouldn't feel like a chore

Thanks for this idea, I realised that our blocks have 10 unpainted cubes (set of 100 various shapes and sizes some painted etc), so I've started and today when getting DS to help me draw some pics on paper to figure out what to put on them I asked him to pick some so I could tell him a story, now all afternoon he has been asking me to tell him a story and DH just told him one, so I think he is going to love them for his birthday.
