In the last couple of weeks, Alyssa has developed a habit of tilting her head when she's looking at you or certain objects. It's not constant, but she does it all the time. I'm pretty sure she continues to do it because of the "aww how cute" reactions she got originally. Usually the tilt is accompanied by a big cheeky smile..

I think I remember reading that babies can start to do it just to get a different angle on things, so is nothing to worry about..however I just wanted to see if anyone else's baby did the same thing? I don't think she has an ear infection or anything and isn't grizzly or upset.

I think it is a habit, Benjy did it for a while too, now he thinks it is fun to bang his head on things
Alyssa does look very cute doing it! Love the rug BTW, we have the same one!

I think she might just be doing it for cuteness. Check her eyes are looking straight and even (I think they are in the photo). If she's not grizzly then it's very unlikely to be an ear problem. If you're concerned though, the Doctor is always free!

It is probably a habit thingy but as busymum said, look closely at her eyes....when her head is straight...in particular look for one that turns up slightly....it may be easier to shine a little torch at her eye and look at the reflection on the front of the eye...they should both be in the same place...if you think one is higher than the other it could indicate a muscle imbalance in the eyes and the head tilt could be to compensate for double vision.

but it is most likely the cute factor....mums are REALLY good at noticing if things arent right so you are on the right track here.

Ashlee does this ALL THE TIME! And I too was worried about it thinking it could be something to do with eyesight. So I asked Plunket and they said you only have to worry if she's looking at something and going to pick it up and still is tilted (if you get what I mean... So hard to explain, but I'm demonstrating it to you in front of the computer! Hahahaha!!!!).

In other words, if she kinda eyeballs something with her head on a tilt to be able to see it to pick it up, then there's something wrong.

Plunket also mentioned if she had poor coordination, like misjudges where things are when picking them up instead of going straight for them, then there may be something wrong there too.

I'd say don't worry about it Ashlee does EXACTLY the same at the moment!

baalamb: I'm glad to know at least Alyssa isn't the only one doing it! She definitely doesn't have problems with picking stuff up, and definitely doesn't keep her head to the side while she's doing it. I'm sure everything is fine anyway...just checking :)

Bombshell, yes - it is a pretty awesome birthdate! I guess I have no excuse for forgetting yours then do I?!
