Had my 1st scan on Friday and have got the all clear, I am growing a healthy baby, has no problems!
Now... another thing, I have a cold... and there isn't anything that I can take is there? Would love some lemsip, but there is no way I can have that! any suggestions?!

Paracetamol is supposed to be fine, although obviously you need to watch your dosage pretty carefully. Otherwise I'd stick to things like a hot lemon and honey drink (sqeeze 3 lemons into a mug, add hot water - NOT boiling - and honey until it tastes right). Dunking a ginger tea bag in there can be nice as well.
Keep your fluids up and get plenty of rest and you'll be right. It's a bit uncomfortable (I had chronic hayfever in the first trimester so I sympathise).

Lemsip i fine, so long as it is the paracetamol one only and you aer careful with dosages. otherwise you have to go the natural drink as Mikaela suggested.
Congrats on the good scan!

Lemsip is fine so long as it is the standard lemsip (you just to need to avoid the max stuff) and you follow the dosage instructions. I confirmed that with my doc when I was preggers.
Congrats on the scan.

You can take lemsip?! Why did I not know this? I've been suffering with the dreaded headcold for 2 weeks now!
Hehe, it's not going to know what has come over me.. tomorrow I'm heading to the supermarket first thing. Thanks for bringing the topic up Lisha!

I was also told no to lemsip by my doc. If it's getting worse why not take a trip to the docs and get something to deal with it rather than suffering with it!

The lemsip is fine. Its just paracetamol. But make sure it is not the one with the decongestant in it. Also make sure you dont take extra paracetamol as you will be doubling up. Or you can just take paracetamol on its own instead of lemsip.
Lots and lots of vitamin C ( I take up to 10 000mg a day when I am getting sick)which is safe in pregnancy.
Acidophilus is also good for your immune system apparently, 2 capsules three times a day while sick.
And in case you are wondering Im a pharmacist and get asked these things all the time!!!

As for healthline... I dont think they know what they are talking about???? Maybe its because there are lots of different lemsips out there and only the old fashioned plain one is OK.

Hi lisha.
I am a pharmacy technician and just wanted to tell you that those people who said you can use the lemsip with the paracetamol only in it are correct.
The speed thing is pseudoephedrine which most companies have now replaced with phenylephrine. This should be avoided during pregnancy
BUT PARACETAMOL IS TOTALLY SAFE TO PREGNANT WOMEN.
You can get lemsip in different combinations of ingredients
Why don’t you call into your local pharmacy for a bit of advice because I do believe the healthine has misinformed you.
Just my 2 cents worth tho

I had so much paracetamol during my pregnancy it wasn't even funny. I had an infected wisdom tooth pulled at 25 weeks.
So not a cold, but definitely paracetamol is fine.
