Topic: Cramps Posted: 29 May 2007 at 10:02am |
Hey ladies,
have had the most awful sleep lastnight!
was awake for 2hours at one stage because my whole belly keeps cramping, like a period cramp but higher, its like its just under my ribs or at the very top of my belly, considering im only 16weeks tomorrow and i have no bump im just wonderingif this is normal?
Ive had no bleeding or anything just these cramps which went all night and made it really difficult to sleep.
any suggestions on what they are and how i make them go away???

I would say that it would be your ligaments stretching I used to get these to when I was pregnant. Sorry don't know how to make them go away. If your worried about it just give your midwife a call and see what she thinks.

I got them but they weren't very strong, but I use to sleep with a wheatie bag on my tummy and got some elastic and made like a belt to hold it there all night and it helped.

Was it one long cramp or every now and then? Could it be brackton hicks? I had them from very early on with Quinn.

I almost died from stomach aches about the same time... I think it was because I was drinking apple juice before bed. As soon as I stopped that, the cramps stopped.
Probably nothing to do with your cramps... just reminiscing about the joys of pregnancy.

Hey Mybelly - have you had a scan lately? I hope that you have spoken to your m/w.
Its just that I m/c at 12 weeks and had cramping prior to that and had wondered why I had no change in belly size - although at 12 weeks does anyone show?
I don't want to worry you though - hopefully its just the braxton hicks!
Hope everythings ok and you get your bump soon!

Hi ladies!
Have just spoken with mw and she has put my mind at ease! thinks its just everything stretching and growing, doesnt think its anything to worry about, thinks that its just my body accomodating my "growing uterus" so possibly pushing everything up and starting to squash.
Said i may notice a bump forming soon!!!
thanks heaps for all the advice
am off to put a wheat bag around my belly kebakat!
thanks :D:D

I'm glad you have had some reassurance from your mw!!!
I live with my wheat bag.. it doesn't get rid of discomfort completely but at least it helps and its nice n warm at this time of the year

haha, i had just done two months intense netball training (as in we were not even allowed on the court and used to do pushups and sit ups on the field to train) so had a lovely fit body! (for the first time since i was about 16yrs!)
I think im not gettin a belly because i got so sick to begin with, i lost 12kgs in 2weeks with ms, but I WANT A BUMP!!!

That's okay MB I didn't show with my first one until about 20 weeks, I think it was the same for #2 (who was a pound heavier!) and it was a bit earlier with #3 but I can't remember. Still in the second trimester though.
