I had a good look through the catalogue last night, we are going to have a proper look at Sylvia Park on Sunday while Nyah is at a birthday party, will probably take advantage of their layby too. We will be getting Christmas and Birthday pressies for her and our friends kids.
The discounts seemed reasonable to me, especially the Bratz/barbie line.

Basically you pick out what you want, then you pay a deposit which is usually either 10% or 20% (varies, I think Kmart is 10% and Warehouse is 20%, someone correct me if I'm wrong) and then you have 2-3 months to pay it off. You can either make weekly/fortnightly payments, or make one lump sum payment at the end. Once you've paid it off you get to take the goods home. There's usually a minimal layby fee, I think it's $2 at Kmart, not sure about the Warehouse.

oh okay. Do you have to pay it off in 2 to 3 months?
REason why I ask I have the cash for all the stuff but I will take it home and give it to her and have to spent another fortune on birthday in December. lol. So I want to layby it until then and then only pick it up before her birthday.
I am bad right?

Teehee, I do the exact same thing, take it home then give it to them early.
The layby is a set term, but you could always wait until a couple of months before her birthday and then do a layby, they're always having sales.

I so so so want that playhouse and that jumping castles and some smaller stuff.
Hubby said he will look tonight but we are doing a no spent next month and he said wont that screw it up. (then put a disclaimer after that stating that that is a correct husband responds anad therefor cant take any s****ual favours away.) Dont know if I should laugh or cry.
Will some of this stuff come up again near Christmas? Surely it will again right?
I am really bad with presents. When I have to buy for another kiddie I walk out with their little present and a few ones for my own daughter.
And hubby challenged me with this no spent month as I was actually laughing at the reasons why you girls decided to buy some stuff. Guess we will see next month right?

I know down here in ChCh they have sales all the time, this sometimes is just to move stock ready for the next shipment. Last year we had a look at the ships for Ethan - pirates of the carabean (sp?) stuff. It was $160 at the sale, we got this in October for $120. Only $40 saving but that is still $40.

The sale is good but neither of the items I bought today were on sale

I want to get M one of those quads but they didnt have one out so didnt get it as I want to see one set up first before spending that kind of money.
didnt get what I wanted however. But I did get M a whole nursery set (kitchens were sold out) and a baby that can go to the potty for her birthday. Grant is going to put it up later to see that nothing is broken and I am under strict instructions not to let her play with it until her birthday which is in December. But already have some awesome gifts for her birthday now.

i went yesterday to get alot of stuff for both the kids birthdays, which are too close for my liking BTW!
and of course they had nothing left that i wanted. so i'm going to another store tomorrow, also going to check out kmart.
kmart laybys, if you cancel them, you get back what you've paid less the $3 document fee. don't think you get that at warehouse

Am I the only one that wasn't overly impressed with the sale??? tried to get my nephew something for his first birthday and a friends child who turns 2 and well came out with neither. There really wasn't much middle of the range price wise.

The little quad bikes are okay. jake got one from his grandfather for his birthday BUT took a long time to figure it out. Doesn't go that fast and to tell the truth, he prefers his motorbike (plastic) and trike.

yeahi wasn't erribly impressed wiht the sale.. only in the fact that well, alot of the things on sale, my chilredn alreaddy have enough of..ie barbies, baby dolls, etc. there are some really neat ones but they don't need them. am not just buying them cos they are cheaper.
We had planned to get Ayja the TMX elmo.. however looked at it, and thought about it and well, it's cute, but what does it DO.. not alot, would prob drive us round the bend and is not that versatile for an active 2 yr old that needs things to keep her occupied for more than a minute.
I think, mike went, and got the girls a bratz big baby each, as they loved the smaller bratz babys i got them last year.. and i know i just said they have tooo many dolls but hey lol. he also got a pack of those tiny ponies to go with the house we got paris for her birthday, and the buckaroo game and that's it. we are looking for things we can do together that encourage thinking and turn taking and spending time together.. like games and puzzles etc. although.. i am waiting for the kmart sale.. they have a little climbing frame there that would be great for the girls big shared pressie... am hoping that is on sale as it's currently $180.. which is a bit toooo much. not trying to hard this year. the bike paris got last year has been riden a handful of times. mike likes those battery operated quad bikes.. lol.. i told him NO! she's not getting one of them, she will darn well learn to ride her bike!!!! lol.
