Topic: Weekends shot to hell Posted: 21 July 2007 at 10:23am |
I've been trying really hard all week to get Andy into some sort of sleep pattern. The last couple of days it's only taken him about 3 mins to go to sleep. This morning DH took him and gave Andy breakfast, played with him and put him back to bed so that I could get some more sleep. Suddenly I heard this screaming! DH had put Andy to bed without a boobie. "Oh I didn't know". WHAT???!!! I've only been giving him a boobie before EVERY sleep for 8 months and 20 days!!! So I went in and rescued Andy, boobied him and put him to bed. He is not a happy camper! Besides the lack of boobie thing, everything seems to get shot to hell in the weekend. I guess it's because I don't do everything with Andy as I'm desperate for some sleep. Does this mean than I can never ever have a break??? This seems to happen evvvvvvvvery weekend. Am feeling really angry (not with anyone just with life) as we had made such great sleep progress the last few days now we are back to square one. O M G! Does this happen to you?? DH has now bought Andy down to lounge. Is all sh*t.ty. Great another FUN start to the weekend. You'd think he's the one who hardly gets any sleep!! Right off to start the whole routine again myself and see if that helps. I have the added pressure of trying to make sure that Andy is awake before the inlaws come to visit. When he was little they would ring and if he wasn't up they wouldn't come and vist us and would go and see someone else instead!! Real nice

My weekends always turn crappy as well. So you aren't alone. During the week I always get Daniel into a semi routine then the weekend comes along and it always seems to get turned upside down and he's harder to settle etc. Every single sunday morning I've ended up asleep on the couch with Daniel from being tired from a crap nights sleep and trying to settle him.

Oh Laura 's, you had just sorted Andy out and this happens Try and get him back into the routine tomorrow. Maybe let Sam know the routine you have so he can follow it as well on the weekends with Andy. And the inlaws bugger them if Andy is asleep let him sleep.

Thanks guys. It's nice to know it's just not us. Even if I get DH to follow the routine it never works. Andy just won't settle for him. We don't even have much of a routine but I guess it is a big change to be with another person who you only see for 2 hours max 5 days a week. Maybe I should just get up, do everything until it's time for Andy to nap again and go back to bed then. But then whats the point? I guess I need to just wait until Andy leaves home to get a sleep in.
Kels and Becks - how the hell do you manage more than one child?? I just don't see how it's possible!! I feel so desperate to get pregnant again but then I think that that it is SOOO stupid to feel like that as I can't even cope with the beautiful baby that I have!
In laws have just left. Day nearly over. Yet again no Mummy time. Am so desperate to do some quilting. Plus I need to totally babyproof for Katherine and Emma Rose coming next weekend. Exciting! poor Katherine doesn't know the chaos she's in for.

No I haven't had a chance to read it yet Kels as DH is going to print it out for me at work. I prefer to read long things printed. Think i really need to! Was just about to say "WOW Andy has gone to sleep already" alas he just started screaming! DH has gone in there to sooth him but I can hear awful singing coming through the monitor and the screams are getting LOUDER!!
I would love ideas on how to get DH involved a bit more. DH gave Andy a bath tonight. When they came out there was heaps of muttering "oh! No nappy made up IS THERE?!" "No PJs are there?! Grumble. Grump....stomp stomp" Grrrr I always lay everything out b4 I run the bath. It's like I have TWO children!
Yeah I can't wait for Katherine and Andy's wife-to-be to come (no pressure or anything!). Haven't seen them since Emma's birthday bash in Feb. Andy gave Emma an engraved bangle for her birthday so that when they get married they'll have this very special momonto of Emmas first b'day.
We will be house bound when Katherine is here as we only have one car seat. But you'd be welcome to come round Becks.

Have to say we have very similar weekends here sometimes. Today has been a shocker, DD didn't sleep at all well last night, so DH and I were both tired and scratchy to begin with. Just feels like the routine I work so hard to keep up during the week disintegrates every weekend.
And I hear ya on the laying stuff out front. Getting DH to do things that he normally doesn't is so painful sometimes. The constant stream of 'where's such-and-such' and 'how does this work?' and 'what do I do with...?' sheesh, you'd think he didn't live here!
