Topic: Being Induced.... Posted: 27 October 2005 at 6:01pm |
First of all Congratulations to Aimee and Bonnie….I am so glad all went well for you guys and that your labours went well and your bub is here safe and sound! I am so excited for both of you.
I really hate these slow computers….as it does not allow me to down load most pages…..any way here is the news.
I went to my docs appt today and my blood pressure was high, 150/90. The doc is worried and said that tho the baby is fine and of a good size, he want to be safe and induce me. So he booked me in for 1st November, that means I go in 31st October (my due date)….Arrrgggg I am so mad.
I cant understand why they cant wait for me to have her when she is ready……
Hubby and I are going for a walk and will have “relations” tonight to see if I can have her naturally.
I need hurry up vibes ladies…loads of them….

All will be okay Roksana, your doc is just reccommending what option he thinks is best.
Something that i would ask is do you always get your BP checked at your docs? (some peoples become higher at their doctors, i know mine does but when i was pregnant i had very normal bp because my midwife took it) Also another thing is that if you have put on alot of weight in your pregancy he might be taking your BP with a small cuff and you might need a larger one.
Also if you were doing loads of stuff before you went to the doc's it can effect the outcome of the reading.
So personally what i would do is get another reading maybe in the morning when you are nice and relaxed. And then make a decision based on that.
If we dont hear from you again, All the best for the birth of your little girl

good ideas there - i agree, worrying about it will make it worse too, so get your BP checked again.
remember it is still your choice tho and arming yourself with as much info as poss will help you make the right decision and feel good about it.

Also get a "stick test" done from your midwife (you pee on a stick thing and it tells you your protein levels) - if you have high traces of protein + high BP that = toxemia... Maybe a reason for induction?
However in saying that I was induced within 48 hours of protein being high...
Get a 2nd opinion and ask lots of questions as to why!!
All the best

Good luck, Roskana! Remember, the 1st is still a few days away, so she may decide to come out before then.
Was that reading a one-off peak, or had your blood pressure readings been building up to that point? If it was a one-off, other factors may have contributed like Maria mentioned. If this has been building, however, that may be why your doctor was worried. Remember, you have every right to get a second opinion

from what you have said about your readings in the past - you have always had a problem with high blood pressure, i can remember some of your early posts and how you were advised to cut down your work hours.. so this is nothing new to you really - and now that it is that high - it not only can be dangerous to YOUR health but also if it gets too much higher it will have a flow on effect and could cause probs for baby if it gets really bad - i know you want to go in to labour naturally but don't you want a happy healthy baby more? they don't usually induce unless they have good reason - and hey - who knows - you might have had her by then. take it easy, find out all you can and be happy that you are obviously in the hands of a great doctor who has the health of you and your girl at heart. Like Lena said - high blood pressure is usually a sign of something, or can lead to other things. hope i have helped a little - if you don't understnad the reasoning behind being induced ring and ask your doc to explain all the risks and benefits etc.. and have a talk about things you can do that might help your BP fall etc. take care... and try not to stress too much - definately not the best way to keep your blood pressure down!

Hey Roksana
Like some of the others have mentioned, it is for your health. I, too, had problems with high b/p during my pregnancy, and even though I finished work five weeks before I had Jake, it just got higher and higher. They eventually booked me in for an induction 3 days before my first due date (2 different dates on scans), and that freaked me out. Still, it got things moving along, because Jake came of his own accord on the 5th (his second due date). Once I had been booked in, it took a little of the pressure off and I relaxed a little, thus helped Jake decide to come along. Lots of other people I know have gone before induction day, so fingers crossed for you. Also, I had to have an epidural because of my blood pressure, so just keep in mind you may have to have one if that was an avenue you didnt want to go down. (hind sight for me was even though it didn't work - I still felt EVERYTHING!- I was able to sleep before the hard part, so that was great) Good luck! (sorry about the novel!)

Good luck Roksana! I don't have anything much to add as I had low blood pressure (so low I fainted several times) and Maya was early so I wasn't induced, but I wanted to wish you all the best for the big day.
Sending you heaps of labour vibes tho and hoping that your little girl comes sooner!

good luck roksana!! Hey, I was induced with Jake, and although I had heard horror stories about the contractions being really bad...I coped and was fine. The contractions for me did come on very suddenly, however, were okay. I was that stage of labour for 3 hours, then over an hour of pushing and "hello Jake". So really, being induced wasn't that bad for me! Don't let other stories scare you.

I know it sounds a bit scarey to be induced but in the end it might just be best for you and bubs. I've already tried walking to bring on labour because of all the constant pain and contractions I keep getting, I walked for 4hours and nothing happened so don't overdo it and make yourself too tired for when bubs does arrive. If you really have you heart set on natural labour maybe you could talk to your midwife about alteritive methods of bring on labour such as using oils to soften you cervix etc. It might be worth a try.
Yesterday I saw my midwife and also have high blood pressure. I'm going in on Monday and if it is any higher they may have to induce me on my due date(the 2nd).
I hope it all goes well for you, Goodluck!

Good luck Roksana Hope that things happen naturally but in the end all that matters is that the two of you are well and healthy.

Oh good news...I went to the hospital this morning and my BP was 132/80...normal. Midwife did a CTG and that came back really well I am even having few contractions...(I didnt even know that they were contractions...he he ha ha)...my cervix is still 2cm but really really soft...so midwife thinks any time now.
After all that the docs decided that it is no use inducing me....YAY!!!
So I will let you guys know when I have my bub!!!
Thanks guys...I was freaking out yesterday!
