Topic: Sleeping Bags Posted: 20 August 2007 at 2:26pm |
Hi
Just wondering if anyone has used a baby sleeping bag??
Ther are so many out there.
Are go go bags good? There is also chelsea Bee and baby caterpillar sleeping bags???
My nearly 5 month old has just moved from bassinet to cot and is moving around a lot. Found him sideways at the top of the cot this morning!!
Any ideas on good mernio or cotton sleeping bags??

I've heard such good things about the merino go-go bags... but I won't part with that much for them!! We use basic cotton ones - a couple from The Baby Factory and the best one was from Pak'n'Save (Bubba Bear brand) believe it or not - I just always look to see if it's 100% cotton. Wouldn't be without them here - Ella still uses blankets, but the sleeping bag makes it difficult for her to kick them off now

We wouldn't be without our Gro Bag, would love a GoGo Bag but can't justify spending that much. The Gro bag keeps Fay warm, stops her kicking the blankets off and stops her wriggling up the cot and getting stuck in the rails. We have used one since she was 4 weeks old. It is also great for travellin as it has a velcro opening in the back to pass a harness through, great for giving breakfast on a cold day too

We have the go go merino bag and don't actually use it as much as thought we would. I find it's just an extra layer for changing and Gina likes kicking around too much to keep her in one during the day. It has come in handy for going out etc when I haven't wanted to bother with blankets but if we were to do it all over again, I'm not sure I'd actually buy it.

we have a 'sleepythings' sleeping bag bought from www.cosybundles.co.nz - it's gorgeous and washes really well. we got it on sale for something like $55 incl postage - 2.5 winter tog rating, size 6-18 mths. found it to be much cheaper than the gro bags and go go bags. also like the fact that it's made in the UK (not china which is good considering the latest news on fabric poisons...)
hope this helps!

We have a merino go go bag that we got when DD moved into her cot about 6months old. She too would never stay under blankets and it has been fantastic we have got our moneys worth and more. I would not be without it.I don't even have top blankets on the bed as she never stayed under them!!Decided on it also as we were going camping last new year in Wanaka and thought it would keep her warm. Will use it with #2 due Jan aswell.

The gremlins have a Grobag each and also a Living Textiles sleeping bag (from www.thesleepstore.co.nz) and they are good. I prefer the Grobags coz they are 100% cotton outer and fill whereas the Living Textiles ones are polyester fill. I'm going to get them some summer weight Grobags when it gets warmer too.

I've got two go-go bags (pressie from my Mum) and they are great. The great thing about merion is that it temperature adjusts so there is not much need for extra blanets. But I think I will use them more when Jaymie is a little older. As at the moment I usually wrap her and strap her in the safe-T-sleep. I use the go-go bags when she has awake time in her bouncer.

Vanessa the gremlins have 2.1 tog ones and I don't use any blankets, but I do use a heater to keep their room at 18 degrees.

i'm bidding on a cheap one on TM at the mo that's a 2.1 so will see what it's like and maybe buy another one. i don't want to plug the heater back in charli's room until we've had a power bill....worried what the heatpump is doing to the cost

Hi, I bought a couple of Slumbersacs from the parent and child show and have found them to be really good this is their website http://www.babyb.co.nz/slum.html
I'm not really sure how they compare in price to other ones as I impulse bought them and didn't research it. They do seem to be really good quality though and he really likes them, he has enough room to kick around like a loon and I don't need to worry about his blankets ending up on his face. They also make ones that have a slot so they can be used with a harness. Have also found it really handy to do his 10.30 dream feed and his 4.30am feed hope he drops that soon!!!!

I'm quite interested in getting Anton a sleeping bag too as his blankets are ALWAYS getting kicked off now.
So, would we only need one? Or do you need an extra for when it's in the wash?
Must go have a look at pak n save and see if I can find one there! If I could get them at that price I wouldn't hesitate to get 2.

Hi,
I have 3 but would get by with 2. One i have was bought for us and has babykids on the label, don't which store stocks thouse, but it has sleeves and a slot for the harness so I find this one better to use for when he is in the pram/carseat.
