Topic: On the plane tomorrow... Posted: 07 September 2007 at 8:54am |
Ohhh getting excited about going on the plane (a very short ride), but still... it is true that the baby doesn't like it because of the air pressure? and they do sommersaults etc and it's uncomfortable?
Hoping to go early to get seat for lucy, as my stomach is way too big for her to sit with me...

I'm not sure about belly babies... but for born babies and toddlers they don't like the pressure at take off and touch down. Does Lucy usually suck her thumb etc? Otherwise a dummy or lollipops would work well. If you decide on lollipops, take wipes hehe!

I flew from Auckland to Christchurch when I was about 35 weeks pregnant & don't remember being uncomfortable. (well, anymore than usual!) I wouldn't have thought the air pressure would affect bubs because they aren't exposed to it?

I went down to Wellington for the day when I was about as far along as you Lisha and the only discomfort I had was the constant need for the bathroom.

I came back from uk when I WAS pregnant with Josh 95 months) and I don't remember anything different with baby - although i hadn't felt him kick at that stage (I was around 20 weeks) You should be ok - it'll be your baby outside the womb Lucy who will be the one to be effected with the pressure. Travel to the uk with Rhyley when he was 4 months and just used the dummy for landing and take off and he didn't seem to be effected or bothered at all. IMO I wouldn't use lollies unless its landing - no one wants a child high on lollies for the plane ride hehe
Where about you going Lisha?

Wow Ann, no wonder you have such big spaces between your babies if you are pg with them all for 95 months

I flew to Oz with the belly gremlins twice at 12 and 17 weeks, and with a Maya belly at about 18 weeks and had no pregnancy related bothers, and none of my kids have ever had trouble with their ears on flights either, but I have heard other poor wee ones squealing in pain so the dummy is a great idea.
Have fun!
