Topic: Sleeping away from home Posted: 15 October 2007 at 4:54pm |
My Dd is a great sleeper. At 13mths still naps 3.5 to 4 hours per day + a good solid 12 hours sleep at night.
She goes to my MILS twice a week from 9am to 2.30pm (sometimes a little longer) and has done so for 2.5mths. It all started out really well and she settled and slept well there.
Now, she protests every nap (at MILs), and often won't sleep. If she does, it is only for 20 to 40mins. She has the same routine there as here, the curtains are similar, she has her go-go bag, her muslin, her teddy & her dreaming for babies cd and my MIL goes through the same sleeptime routine.
I find this lack of sleep on those days mucks up the week and she ends up over tired.
Anyone had this prob and overcome it? Any ideas why she might be doing this? Do you think it is just too exciting being at Nanas?

That is exactly what I think it is!
Or she's thinking "hey lady - you do everything my mummy does, but you're not my mummy and I'm gonna stay awake and tell her that you're pretending to be her"

Kryssi has started already, often won't go to sleep even in the carseat etc. She's too aware of her surroundings. I don't think you'll beat it actually!

might be nana is too interesting. My boys won't go to bed when my mum comes over for tea and usually they will ASK to go.

I'd say nana is too interesting!
Maddie sleeps great at home but *has* to stay awake and play at day care so only ever has one nap...stubborn little thing!

Maybe she is getting to an age where she is learning she can manipulate situations by behaving in particular ways? I know the gremlins have definitely picked up on this, they *know* they aren't supposed to do something (ie. pull each others hair) but they do it anyway and give you a big grin while they do it. Could be that Elle has worked out that she can have nana on and nana will let her get up whereas at home she knows Mummy is the boss end of story?
