I want to get some professional shots taken of Alex so that we can give framed photos to his grandparents for Christmas this year.

Can anyone recommend a good place to go for having him photographed? I had thought of PixiFoto but their print prices are so expensive, especially if you don't want to get a collection

Why don't you go to Pixifoto for the free one. There will have been a voucher in your bounty pack. It is the first photo they take and we got Sam in a santa sack with reindeer antlers on a headband. It is adorable and for an extra $20-30 they will print them onto Xmas cards for you as well.

or use one of those vouchers they send out, or on back of supermarket coupons etc etc....and get the free (or $5 or $10) one done and then copy them off.... We did that with the preggy ones...walked out of PP and straight to camera house and got copy of photo done and gave them in frames as xmas pressies to family!

Did they turn out alright? I got preggy ones done and the "free" one was awful yet one of the others was really nice. I bought a small version thinking I could scan it and blow it up. Do they come out ok?

The trouble with PixiFoto (besides that I didn't get a voucher in my bounty pack - ripped off!) is that the free picture is the first one taken, so it's often not the best. That's partly why I'd rather go somewhere else, if anyone can recommend a good (and not ridiculously expensive) family portrait place. Oh, and I'm in Auckland.

How bout doing your own? All you need to do it put a white sheet over the couch (i put her tri pilloy under it, so she sits good) and then take b&w, septia and colour pictures of her and they look awesum.. you could put a santa hat, reindeer ears etc on him..

When I got Daniels free PixiFoto thinger done I was able to choose from all his photos which was to be the free one, they didn't care if it was the first or last one..

Otherwise, do you have a good camera or know someone who has a good camera? It's not too difficult to take awesome ones yourself, you just need a nice background colour and make sure that you have enough light on him

Thats not right, you can choose which one you want as your free one. The place that says that is totally wrong (my friend is the manager at PP in Palmy) and you can tell them that you will choose which one you want.. Ring Pixiphotos (there is an 0800 number) and ask them to send out the vouchers. I lost mine when I had Andrew and got an other set sent to me - then I ended up finding them so I had 2 sets.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I had to have the first photo too. I was told that when they took it as well. It was a terrible shot and after they took that they started getting more flattering poses.
