so am now addicted to wedding stuff - despite having no money to actually have one. and to think - i was perfectly content to go through life without wearing a big puffy dress. i am turning into bride-zilla

but am reading through people's suggestions for wedding music. is it just me or is it all crap and sick making? soooooo cheesy i know it will give me the giggles (mental note_ buy vodka for dutch courage - have got some absolute honey - mmmmm) i don't want to mention specifics cause someone is sure to say "actually that was my wedding song how dare you comment on it" so will avoid that. maybe I will just have jake suing his favourite medley of Twinkle twinkle old macdonald.

he he Liz, I know what you mean! We didnt have any music other than our first dance song (one by Live) as we got married on the beach, so the crashing waves and wind were our music!

Well I had heaps of music at mine (but I am a musical person).

I had 2 trumpeters at the ceremony to play for me walking in (2 friends of mine).
A CD I made up to have going after the ceremony finished.
I made sure we had the right song for our first dance
And I made sure the DJ had a list of songs that we wanted played.

Up to you if you don't want that lovey dovey music don't have - we didn't and made sure we didn't.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I understand what you mean re Music, we're trying to fit Pink Floyd in there somewhere DFs fav band, but not at all romantic, quite the opposite actually.

We are having a mix of things that is really us and things we like - not at all too soppyish and gooey.

we have things in our lead up songs (pre-wedding music) like blondie - one way or another, lol, final countdown, the last song played before we walk down is going to be mikes absolute fav "sandstorm" by darude, to get him all freaked out and hyped up lol and heaps of other stuff like that, chasing cars by snow patrol, hanging by a moment by lifehouse etc - am walking down the aisle to shakira - underneath your clothes, lol, mike wants kermits rainbow connection in there somewhere (lolololol PMSL) and we have the version of bryan adams Heaven that was done by dj sammy.

long story short - take what you like and make it your music - songs that have meaning for you - alot of ours have been ones that bring back memories of things or suit us well, more modern ones and a few oldies but also techno-ish stuff, a real mix.

It doesn't have to be gooey.

lolol. So when's the wedding anyway.. lol depends where you go on the site. lol don't go into the 2008 brides threads, those ladies in there are just scary (just kidding kate and fleury)... kinda funny/freaky to realise how much people pay and what they do.

I waqlked down the aisle to thetheme music from 'the Princess Bride' (my favourite movie), then we had Metallica's Nothing Else Matters (version with San Francisco symphony orchestra) for when we were signing the registry (DH big Metallica fan but it is a really nice piece of music) and Your Love keeps lifting me higher (I can't remember which version LOL!!) when walking back down the aisle. Then we just had a juke box for the dance part - worked well.

It's easy to spend heaps but the most important part is that it's special to you and your DH and thats all that matters.

We did the juke box for the reception and I didn't really want music for the ceremony but to keep mum happy we had some dumb soppy songs that just didn't mean anything to either of us and even now when I hear them I cringe. I was going to sing a song I wrote when I walked up the aisle but I chicken out because I was so sure I would fall on my face trying to hold a mirophone, flowers as well as getting out of the car and walking with heels on!!

I'm not scary!!! Gee you were a 2008 bride not long ago Janine!
We're having Princess Bride theme song Tiff, DF agreed after i explained it was sung by Mark Knofler.

Depends of course on whether you have a DJ, stereo or instrumental music.
Friend of mine had a stringed trio for their ceremony and lots of lovely orchestral music, they had 4 seasons for the signing of the registy.

Not sung by Mark but written and played by him. A guy called Willie sings it for the soundtrack - the music geck in me knows theses things.
