Topic: Periods :-( Posted: 09 January 2006 at 9:12am |
Awful topic I know but its driving me nuts and I want to know if you all think I need to see the Dr or not (not keen on paying $$ for no reason!) Anyway, got my period back after 6 weeks (feel very ripped off about that even tho I'm b/fing). Bled for one week (started minipill on the first day), had two weeks off, bled one more week, one week off, now its back again! Argh! Do you think its cos of the pill or just my body going a bit haywire after birth?
Any help most appreciated

I hate to give you the bad news but that sounds pretty normal to me Aimee! Unfortunately it just takes awhile for your body to sort it all out after birth and throwing the mini pill into the mix can't be helping.
I finished bleeding when Alex was nearly 2 weeks old then exactly a month after his birth I got my period! Talk about rip off! What happened to not getting your period when exclusively breastfeeding?!?!?! It took about 9 months to get back into a pattern then on the 10 month I got pregnant again.
I wouldn't go to the doctor unless its very very heavy or if you think something doesn't feel right. Its all pretty natural I'm afraid

Hopefully your body will sort itself out again soon.
I'm on the minipill and had two periods last month. Not impressed. Especially because it made me freak about pregnancy. Actually still freaked but then again I always am due to my pregnancy with Hannah when I ignored everything until 16 weeks had passed.
I'm just hoping with my extra period that means I get two months period free Wishful thinking I know

I bled for forever after i had paris, nearly 7 and a half weeks, then didn't get mine back after paris until about 5 months when i stopped feeding her exclusively, but with it came terrible stuff, horrendous cramps, i'd wake up in the middle of the night and start shaking uncontrollably and couldn't stop it, i'd go faint and ick.... i dreaded each month - for me it just went back to monthly straight away.
After ayja so far i've only had it 2 times, straight back to monthly again and none of the horrible illness, just REALLLLLY catty and crabby.. i hate hormones!
I'd probably say Aimme that the mini pill might be what's mucking it all up for you but if you're concerned go see your doc, who might be able to offer other solutions. I know of a fair few people who have had probs with taking that and having periods here there everywhere.

hey Ana, I went back to work when jkae was 3 months so wasn't exclusively breastfeeding then, and stopped completely at 4 months, so that could have something to do with the quick pregnancy too.

BTW, i joined another forum and one lady had a go at me about not knowing i was pregnant for so long. what a b^&*(%h. I wasn't impressed at all. So glad our Ohbaby ladies are non-judgemental...well, at least we think things rather than writing them down!

One of my friends was really worried she had cancer because she was vomiting in the shower every morning and really tired etc. So she put off going to the doctor. Then she found out she was like 16 weeks pregnant. TA DA. I think it took her a while to get her head around it, but its def not unusal for people not to know they are pregnant for a while.
Esp if you already have one child and are BF or you periods havent come back.
Maybe she just jelous Liz cause you so fertile

dunno. I also was looking at the Names place in the same forum. Now, I have a particular taste in names - as does everyone else, but I would NEVER say "how could you think of naming your child that - it's so weird", but some people had made those comments. It's so rude!!
