pak n save and woolworths do "the rug doctor" - you pay for four hours, 8 hours, overnight or 24 hours I think - ranging from $30 - $80. you hgave to get the cleaner - big bottle is $18 i think - you' need at least two for a house - possibly more depending on how dirty the carpet is. You can also rent the uphostery tool which is kinda cool.

Hi, I bought a bissell, we have a lot of pets so was cheaper than keep renting. I think it cost about $600 and that was in a sale.
We had someone clean our lounge for us (which is pretty big as far as lounges go, cos it is also dining and conservatory type thing) and that only cost $60 if you don't feel like doing it yourself.

I totally reccomend rug Dr, we hire it twice a year and do our carpets and lounge suite. Did it last weekend, in fact. Worth it!
I so want a Bissell but DH won't splurge!

We have 4 cats and 2 dogs so it gets a lot of use in our house, plus I just bought it, bit late for DH to say no when its unpacked and cleaning the floors.
