Yesterday when I was at the Dr for Josh I was reading the clearfile that they have put together about all the services they have and stuff like that. I read that they have a free dietition that can work with you to help you out with things. So I asked my dr if it was worth me going to see her. He told me it wouldn't hurt as I would get a different tryp of help from Weight Watchers.

So me thinking that it would take forever to get an appointment I was able to get one this morning at 9am.

I went along (by myself YAY) and she took the usual history and stuff like that. From the visit she said I am eating well (as I would hope because of the WW) but I need to up my exercise (trying to find the time is a problem). So I am being given a pedometer to use and I have to aim for 10000 steps by December and I will be seeing a personal trainer (for free) to see what else I can do in the mean time till I start back at Massey and get the gym out there cheap).

If you belong to a PHO see if you can access the same sort of stuff, there are a few other things I may look at doing once I have spoken with my Dr.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

That's cool, that you get all that help for free and is always better to get a few opinions and techniques to try.

What are PHO's and is there anything in particular you have to do to belong to one. Are they for low incomes etc?

That sounds really good. I need to go back to a nutritionist too. I've become far too relaxed about things.

PHO's are Primary Healthcare Organisations. You would of had to sign something to belong to one.

Yup, PHO's rock! Willie is on the CarePlus program so his doctors visits are really cheap and his scripts are only $3 each even tho he doesn't have a community card.

my doctor has got me onto this green prescription thing. basically i had to sign like a contract thing (nothing legal or anything just something to say I would commit to the program) and then a lady from the organisation rings you and talks to you about weight loss, what works, puts you onto a dietician all that sort of thing and they ring you every few weeks to see how you are going and I also go in monthly and weigh in at the doctors and they keep a record of it. The lady is sending me out information on how to start running, how to build up to it etc... and its all free.
