LOL I was the only one in the house to feel it. Kids were busy and DH in shower so the only proof I had to show the kids was the balbals on the christmas tree and the angel swaying still.

rang the inlaws - the warehouse is a complete mess, central town is cordoned off, including PNS, so hope everyone has done their xmas shopping. A few buildings have collapsed in the centre - i know them but you all probably wouldn't - AND apparently the bar where DH used to work and where the guy was an arse, cordoned off and slightly damaged - justice at last!

We were making the ground shake all on our own... no, not in that way!!! We were doing an exercise dvd and the phone rang and it was Mum asking if we felt it, and I looked at the Christmas tree and all the decorations were swaying. I hate them so thank goodness I didn't feel it or I wouldn't have been able to sleep last night

Well we DEFINATLEY felt it! Was increadibly scary,...seemed to go on forever. We are all ok, but our ceilings are cracked, hot water cylinder and toilet leaking, and heaps of smashed stuff in the kitchen. Lucky I wasnt in bed, the chest of drawers tippe over on my side, and jewlery box etc that was on top all flew onto the bed. Eeek!
Isla slept through the whole thing!

ETA- We had no power for ages either. Have felt after shocks, and already had another powercut this morning.

Our poor christmas tree is broken in half! It was on top off a box so its out of Isla's reach, and it fell on its head!
