a 24 hour party going on in their tummy?? I'm getting exhausted pretty quickly what with the heat & not being able to sleep anytime before midnight lately. Mr Bump is seriously having a party or something because he is moving NONSTOP! I have tried everything I can think of to get some sleep, but even my midday snoozes aren't happening anymore coz of elbows & feet poking out everywhere. I thought Alex was a mover & a shaker but it just seems so much worse this time. Anyone else? And what are you doing to get some sleep? I only had about 3 hours sleep this morning & then had to get up to get Alex breakfast. Thank god Alex is sleeping all night or I would be in a coma from sleep deprivation

I feel for you Toni. It's rough with not sleeping so well, and having a toddler to run around after. The best i can offer is try and sleep in Alex's sleep time, or get your partner to feed and bathe Alex while you have a nap, or at least a sit-down and relax. Are there any dvds or videos that Alex will watch, while you sit and relax? Jake is very energetic, but actually will sit and watch several shows - Wiggles, Hi 5 and those baby einstein dvds aer favourites. tehy have been saviours during breastfeeding.

Sorry Toni I can't really offer you any advice on how to sleep better, i managed to sleep fairly well when pregnant, I just learned to sleep thru all the kicking and moving. I hope it gets better for you soon.

Well once again I'm sitting up unable to sleep. I have tried but after an hour & a half I gave up, I was keeping Spencer awake while I was rolling around trying to get comfy.
Hi Aimee, Mr Bump is only just starting to reach my ribs so I haven't had any problems so far..... I have fingers crossed too that my ribs stay located where they are! Lizzle, I have definitely tried to sleep when Alex is having his nap, but it's just not happening. When I was pregnant with Alex he moved heaps but there were plenty of times when he was quiet so sleep was never really a problem. Its like this little guy is on speed or something. He never stops moving & the movement gets alot stronger when I'm resting which is really not helpful. I tried having a warm bath tonight which seemed to work but as soon as I got out he started up again.
I wish I could sleep through the kicks & elbowing but I can't. Its really hard to explain but the best I can put it is, if Mr Bump was a basketball I shoved up my top, then the basketball is falling waaayyyyyyyy off to the side so I look deformed or something with a hump on my side instead of out front.
Do you think acupunture would help get Bubs to relax & cut me some slack?

Well, I think I've exhausted all my other options so I'm going to head off to bed. All my housework is done except vaccuming so I'm going to try my best to sleep in & make an attempt to have a midday snooze while ALex is asleep. It's just a matter of falling asleep because Alex is still sleeping about 4 hours during the day. Hopefully someone might get an idea on how to calm my party animal baby so his mama can sleep properly at night!!

Zac was out to my right side as well but not as active as you're little one. I would rub on that side and that would make him stop moving...but you've probably already tried that?

Hi Kim, the rubbing on the side works right up until I stop doing it! Then it starts up again....Sigh!
Spencer said tonight he will rub my belly so hopefully I will fall asleep before he does and also hopefully I will be to tired that all the movement won't wake me up again.
I managed to get to sleep about 2am this morning, or at least last time I looked at my alarm clock it was just before 2am. And then I woke up at 5am when Spencer got up this morning so I'm absolutely buggered already.
Seriously ladies this is just ridiculous.

Thats it I'm off to buy a hot water bottle! And lavender of some sort! I'm willing to try just about anything to get some sleep. Luckily I'm not needing to go to the loo a million times coz Mr Bump is sitting very high.
Oh and Tania, my son Alex was very smilar to this one, very active and he was a GREAT sleeper. He has been sleeping all through the night since he was 6 weeks old (except for a few nights while teething)....Maybe he wore himself out while in the womb Now at 15 months old, he sleeps about 4 hours during the day & 11 hours at night. Although when he IS awake he is nonstop on the go.

It's party central in my tummy most of the time - although he is pretty nice to his mummy and lets me sleep at night! When I get up for one of my many trips to the loo I can feel him wriggling and kicking but I can always fall back to sleep.

Wow I just woke up from 2 hours worth of sleep! Somehow managed to get a headache but feeling abit more alive. I went out on the farm with Spencerr & Alex on the quad and managed to pass out with my head on Spencer's shoulder. Apparently Spencer didn't even notice until the boss pointed it out as he was riding past So Spencer tooks us home, somehow managed to carry me inside to the bed (huge belly & all!) without waking me up, then took Alex out again so I could do some catch up sleep. I guess I just got to the point where I couldn't keep going & just crashed.

Check this with your midwife first but I use sleep tea when I have had a long day and just want some Zzzzzz's. You buy it from the supermarket (next to all the normal tea bags and stuff) - Doesn't taste too bad either.
It relax's your body and I crash within about 1/2 an hour of having it but if Arna wakes up I wake up still as well so its not a "coma" thing. There is also one called "Relax" tea...

Suss it out Good Luck with your sleep and the fiesty Mr Bump!
