We have recently bought a magnetic underlay and I have just got pregnant - does any one know whether it is still safe to use the underlay?

Hmmm might not be safe, ask your midwife or doc maybe?

From the biomag website

Quote ARE MAGNETIC UNDERLAYS SAFE FOR EVERYONE TO USE?
If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, or sleep with an insulin pump it is not recommended that you sleep on magnetic products. However, there has never been any evidence that magnetic therapy is harmful for pregnant women.

With pacemakers and insulin pumps, it is possible that the magnets could slow down the battery.

People in these categories should instead be buying one of our beautiful Woolrest Fleece products which do not contain magnets.

If you have surgical pins, plates or screws in your body, there is no evidence to suggest that there is any ill-effect from using a magnetic underlay.
If you wear a watch or have a hearing aid, you may like to remove those items at night when sleeping on a magnetic underlay, because it may slow the battery.

Talk to your m/w or GP - better safe than sorry.
Out of curiosity - what are they good for ie why did you buy one?

They increase the levels of some natural drug in your brain that helps you get a good nights sleep - we swear by our biomag but haven't had it on since I got pg because it's not recommended. The magnets *may* screw with your system when pg, so it's just not worth the risk really.

DH is really missing our biomag, so is telling Jack to hurry up and make an appearance. I suffer from a bad back and DH a bad shoulder, both of which we haven't noticed in the 2 years we've had our biomag, but man do we notice the pain now!

JP has a sore knee and when we bought the biomag it fixed it straight away. He is hoping that it wont get worse now that we are not using it.
I have a bad back so it was another thing we were trying to see if it would help.

we took it off because it said not to use it if you were pregnant - or to ask your doc first. I have a midwife app in a couple of weeks so will ask her then.
better to be safe than sorry.
