We just had our 4D anatomy scan this morning and all is well but the flaming umbilical cord was between the legs and the radiographer couldn't get baby to move (and she REALLY tried, I'm sure I'm going to have bruises!) so baby is still "it" for now       I was so looking forward to calling it (see, there I go again lol) by the name we had chosen. We have an appointment with the midwife tomorrow so hopefully we'll be able to book another scan. There's no way I could wait until the birth!
Btw.. we got to see the baby kicking and sucking it's thumb just gorgeous!

Isn't that always the way. I bet if you had decided not to find out, it would've been easy to spot!

Good luck for the next scan! Maya was only too happy to flash her bits for the camera. Not something I wish to encourage...

Just met with my midwife this morning. Apparently we won't have any more scans (all going well) unless we want to pay for them (approx $80) and even then there is no guarentees baby will flash it's bits lol.

Something is telling me now that it wasn't meant to be and maybe we'll just have to wait for the surprise *sigh* We were so looking forward to doing the whole pink/blue thing

Oh Toni that's stink. How did you go about having the 3D scan done, were you able to see your baby's features?

We could see quite a bit but as we were told to come in too early (I was 17wks & 4 days when I had it done) and apparently you're supposed to be 20wks when there is more fatty tissue on the baby and you can see more. They took my EDD and told me when to come in. So Hubby wasn't too impressed with the photos we were given, one is of the baby peeking from behind the placenta - which I think is funny. We also have a full face photo but not a full body one even though I asked for it! Grrr

i was told i could have my scan between 18 - 22 weeks, i cant go in at 20 weeks that is when the midwife is seeing us and she wants it done before i see her.

Are you able to have the cheaper normal scans? I know ours are $25 if we want to do them outside the 18 - 22 weeks.

   Hey Jezsika,
We were told that we can have a scan every month if we really wanted to (but would have to pay), but my midwife said that no one knows for sure if it is ok for the baby, so they try to limit them to "medical reasons only". I read that the ultrasound sounds like a low hovering helicopter to the baby Dunno how true that is!?!?
We've decided that if baby wants to keep it secret - then who are we to argue lol - we'll just wait until the birth

There have been some studies linking ultrasound during pregnancy to low birth weight.
That said, in high risk pregnancies it is common to scan weekly, and if that posed a risk to the baby they wouldn't do it.
I had 4 scans during my pregnancy with Maya and each one cost $25. Basically all your midwife has to do is fill in the form saying she wants to check bubs size/position/fluid/placenta or any other random thing and you can get another one.
