Topic: Child care rebate Posted: 14 January 2008 at 3:40pm |
Beck's post made me realise I wanted to know more info about this.
How do I get it, what period is it for and when do I apply!

If your child was in daycare for the tax year ending March 2007 then you can asked them for a receipt of your payments and then claim them back to the IRD. From memory the most you can get is $310.
You can then claim again for the tax year ending March 2008.
You can download the form off the IRD website.

You'll get a piece of paper from your daycare that has the total amount you paid in childcare. Either download or ring IRD and get an IR26 (I think) for and you fill that in and get $310 back from them.

$310?? Well I suppose that is better than nothing but still...for us that is the equivalant of one week and one day...
Still I had forgotten we can claim.
Can husband AND wife each claim and get $620? Like you do with the rebates on donations?

Nope 1 claim per family. Its the same form that you claim back donations.
Yep its a pitiful $310 a year you can get back.
