Just a quick question about the jars of baby food. I intend to make my own very soon but for the time being I'm using the jars.
If you put the remaining food into an ice cube tray, can I freeze it? If so, how long will it keep?

 Thanks!!

Absolutley. I always do that. I would imagine it would last up to a few weeks in the freezer if it lasts that long |

yes you can freeze it as long as you've not fed baby from the portion you want to freeze. (e.g. spoon some out for baby into a different bowl and then freeze what was in the jar, not what is left over in the babies plate.)
I bought jars of baby food for when out and about, saved all the jars and make my own now and refill/freeze the jars... it's great! My boy seems to like homemade food better than the bought stuff! YAHOOO! :)
I'm not sure of the exact amount of time it can last. I always use mine up within a month and then make more.
I also cook porridge and brown rice (seperately) and freeze those aswell as having some fruits like bluberries etc pureed up and frozen and use those (my boy has had a dairy intolerance so it's been alot easier making my own!)
When using the ice cube tray, I cover it with some glad wrap and as soon as it's frozen put it into sealed bags so it doesn't pick up any odours from the freezer etc.!
 all the best!

   Thanks for that!!
We bought some jars before xmas and had them ourselves!! Decided that we should at least try what she was eating, I have to say some weren't to bad and others so we have saved the jars so we will use them for the homemade stuff!!

I put my homemade stuff into ice cube trays,t hen the trays into plastic bas - once frozen I turn them out into the plastic bag they were in.
I believe that I have read a few different time frames for keepingit, up to 3 months I think, but I would probably aim to eat within a month to 6 weeks to be safe.

Well because i do it in ice cubes, i jsut put the amount of icecubes I want nto a cowl then microwave it, then let it sit.
With jars, i imagine you would want to thaw in the fridge or something rather than zap it, though you will want to zap it once thawed.

 is that helpful at all?

I think it's about 3 months till you should toss it, but by then (in the early days) you will want to change the consistancy (ie more lumps) by then anyway!
I just microwave - defrost for a while and then heat. I brought the food trays from Baby City - I think $20 for 3 trays - and they are great cause they have lids! The cubes are also a little more generous than normal ice cubes!

BabyKiwi - I note from your other thread that Ava has reflux - probably best to introduce foods one at a time to see if there is any allergic reaction (there seems to be a common thread between reflux and allergy).
 Loving those food faces tho!!!!

Yeah, being very careful at the mo. She is only getting something solid every couple of days, gives me a chance to see if there is anything going on!
Read somewhere about the foods to give them as well and what to avoid so I'll start there, but thanks for the note!
