How many of you had this happen during pregnancy? I was pretty sure thats what had happened as I could feel a bumpy ridge alone the midline of my bump in standing, and I can definitely get some fingers in between the two sides. And yep, doc confirmed it today For those that dont know what it is, its an excessive seperation of your abdominal muscles.

So for those of you that had this, has it corrected postnatally? Lucky for me I am a physio, so have lots of colleagues to call on to help me out when the baby is here, but just want to know from people who have been there.

I had/have this - I noticed it from about 20 weeks onwards and it is still there, tho not so noticeable now. I haven't been too good at the postnatal exercises, but was told that they would improve it - but that it would come back in subsequent pregnancies...

From what I remember at physio school, it should improve if you do your exercises. I guess it just means I will never wear a bikini again!! And all going to plan, this is my last baby so hopefully wont have to worry about subsequent pregnancies.

Yep, I had it...was diagnosed when I was 31 weeks preggers and the physio could fit her fist into my separation ! I was gutted as I had always had very strong ab muscles and a flat, taut tummy (not anymore )

The seperation has decreased to probably one finger now, but you can actually see it (which is pretty gross) as it sort of 'concaves' inwards . I started my tummy tucks after 6 weeks and then moved onto some pilates excercises, but alas, it hasn't decreased anymore than that.

If you figure out a method to tighten those muscles even more, please let me know
