Topic: stomach problems Posted: 21 February 2006 at 11:12am |
Hi
i got take away food last night and this morning I have stomach cramps and dihorea(sp?)- it's getting better as the morning moves on - is this a problem or just a sign maybe that the food was a bit rich for me? I havent been ill or anything so I dont think it is food poisoning, but I just wanted to check that this not something to be concerned about...?

drink lots of water! If it is a mild case of food poisoning, the real danger is you becoming dehydrated. If you continue to get diaarhea, you'll need to see a doctor.

I got stomach cramps and diarohea when I had food poisening, I had compylibactor (sp?) which is from chicken. Apparenlty also, stomach cramps can be caused by dehydration which is common with diarohea. To be sure I would contact your midwife

Hi mrs frantic,
I'm also in my first trimester (first time) and therefore not 'experienced' on all this, but I've been told by many that delicious spicy foods, yukky greasy foods, and pleasant oily foods and then pregnancy just do not mix, and to expect gastric reflux and/or a runny bum and vomiting if I try to mix the two! Nice. I'm struggling with morning (all freakin day) sickness and have found that whatever I really don't want to eat at the time is the stuff that's more likely to make me feel worse. In my humble opinion, it's probably your body rejecting the take-out and food poisoning usually has a couple more symptoms, but if visiting the Doc gives you peace of mind... well, it's free for us right now, so if it helps...!

hmmm yeah i mean it's not bad I am not having to RUN to the toilet or anything, it is relatively mild, I just started to think about things like toxemia and stuff and got a bit paranoid for a second... you may be right it may just be the food was too rich, after all if it was food poisining I think I would have been a heck of a lot sicker than I am now with just a mild tummy rumble...?

the big thing I noticed with mine was the temperature, mine sky rocketed when I was sick and the symptoms got steadily worse. See how you feel this afternoon and as Andie says, it is free to see doctor so if only to put your mind at ease you could always head along to check things out

I am also in my first trimester and was off work sick yesterday due to severe vomiting and diarohea in the very early hours of Monday morning. I am fine now but had bad stomach cramps which caused me to vomit. I think I ate some dodgy pizza - its certainly given me a wake up call - reheated homemade pizza is now a "no no" for me.

I've had takeaway food as in butter chicken but our indian place cooks it really well and makes it nice and mild for me which is awesome.
I've had McD's oddly enough and been fine from that too but I only get a fishburger or cheesburger...I avoid chicken.
It does sound like it's just your body rejecting the food...but yes contact you m/w if worried.
Looks like there are a few of us due around the same time!

one of he worst foods ia actually rice!! you can only reheat once. that said, before I knew that I rehated rice lots of times and was fine!
when i had food poisoning, i never vomited but had really bad diarrhea - complete with bleeding. Lovely as my mum had bowel cancer when she was 21, so they wouldn't give me any drugs until they'd tested me for that.

Yes and when you reheat rice you have to reheat real throroughly, like heat it so it is too hot to eat straight away.

I'm not really showing yet - I'm quite small (size 8) so thought I would show early but that doesn't seem to be the case. At night I definately have a small bump and normally have to get changed into my pj pants or something loose but thats normally after eating dinner or something! My mother said she didn't start showing until around 20 weeks so I think I might be the same. Although in saying that, I am having a "fat" day today and was just telling the one girl at work who knows about my pg that I'm not going to wear this top again and you can't hide anything!! Oh and I've actually lost a couple of kg's due to my morning sickness so really want to/need to put on some weight!
