Topic: Runny tummy Posted: 23 February 2008 at 9:50pm |
I've sure I've been so carefull with my food but I've got a really bad runny tummy.
I feel fine otherwise. No temperture or anything just the tummy being awful.
Do I need to do anything? Should I see a dr? I don't want to be a panicy mother to be just want to know I'm not being too relaxed about things either.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Ive had an upset tummy before that had me on the loo for like half an hour, I felt awful and the tummy cramps were SO bad I thought I was having contractions but it was just my tummy and once Id been toilet I felt SO much better. I must have just picked up a little bug or something.
So Im sure your fine, but if you are still worried then you could speak to yuor midwife.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless its been like that for a couple of days, then I would probably speak to your mw or go to the dr. i have had the odd bout of diarrhoea here and there throughout pregnancy and no adverse affects to bubs.

Thats really strange you still have problems with IBS during pregnancy.
I also suffer IBS, and its only when pregnant that the problems easing majorly!
It was a specialist at the hospital who told me that while pregnant the body 'relaxes' (yeah right, some say) but this eases the IBS for woman sufferers.
I have a couple friends who are IBS sufferers and they say they same; they get relief from IBS while pregnant!
IBS is often misdiagnosed. But as I said, I was told this by specialists (2) at the hospital, and also experienced this.
On the other topic...
hehe..ive never heard of 'runny tummy' before!
Anyway..you are still not far along, so keep an eye on it. But if it was me, I'd just pop down to the doctors and get checked anyway...can't hurt aye.

I had strange tummy things going on throughout my pregnancy, and it's still continuing abit. Went to a dietician and it seems I developed some lactose intolerance. It helped alot to avoid dairy, but I had to look for other sources of calcium. Perhaps have a look at what you're eating and see if it's linked to anything.

Everyone is different though, everyones body reacts differently to pregnancy. Some women get morning sickness and some dont.
ive always had probs with my bowels, and since Ive been preggy its worse, not better.
just some of us unlucky ones that get it worse through pregnancy

I'm a lucky one that had minimal probs with my IBS during pregnancy, but man I'm getting it double time now! I can't go a day without something upsetting my tummy! Plus my migraines came back and my uterine contractions which were also *supposed* to disappear after having a baby. The joys!
But I second the fluids thing, you get so dehydrated if you have to go to the loo heaps and that will cause all sorts of problems with other things. Have you eaten anything suspicious? If you haven't, I would just monitor it, and if it goes away just put it down to random pregnancy stuff. You'll get a huge list of them!

Firsttime - I had some kind of raging tummy bug a few weeks ago, prob when I was around the same stage as you, I vomited for 12 hours straight and couldn't get out of bed for 2 days. I checked with my m/w and she was happy that bubs would be fine and so far everything has been just fine. Listeria is the only one you really have to worry about and it's pretty unlikely you have that.

Probably TMI but my IBS was great up till 20 weeks and now it's really inconsistent. I wonder if I'm also developing a gluten sensitivity or something (we have coeliacs in the family and it's always been triggered by pregnancy) cos I've eaten lots of bread over the last few days and had the worst tummy cramps ever.
