yeah shes the flakey hippy one but this book is set 10 years after watermelon, so shes now 33 and more "normal"
I think Helen and Mammy walsh are the funniest characters.
Buy it ! read it! y'all love it

i love her too. It's nice to read a book where the characters aren't either animals, or filled with metaphors etc (bloody englih lit. courses)

watermelons my fave too!so funny!
has anyone read her other non walsh ones? Last chance saloon, The other side of the story and Lucy Sullivan is getting married? they are good too-but i still prefer the walsh ones, this one (anybody out there) is just beautiful.
Interesting fact bout ms Keyes-she is an alcoholic and at her lowest point spent 2months in rehab (rachels holiday inspiration) when she got out she wrote some short stories and sent the first 3chapters of watermelon to an agent, and the rest is history-oh and she hasnt had an alcoholic drink for 10 years

Did anyone see the Watermelon movie? It was on telly a couple of years ago. No way near as good as the book, it loosely followed the plot of the book. Very disappointing.

I'm a bit of a sucker for chick-lit - another author who is just as entertaining as Ms Keyes is Jane Green - I have all her books as well. I think I like Sushi for Beginners and Last Chance Saloon best.... Watermelon drove me mad with all her self pitying warbling at the beginning but I grew to like it after reading it 5 or 6 times
