Can anyone recommend a good GP in Wellington city? I'm not that happy with the one I have at the moment. I prefer a woman but am open to having a guy GP.

It is really hard to change GP in Welly at the moment, there is such a stortage that GP's are closing their books except if you have moved from somewhere out of the area. Goodluck finding a GP sorry cant reccommend any in Welly.

Where abouts are you? I would not hesitate to reccommend the two women GPs at the surgery in Newtown that I use. PM me if you want details, not sure of whether they are taking on pts but they did take on DH recently

We go with the Hataitai Medical Centre. Dr Phil is the main doctor but they also have female doctors. I pretty much use whatever female doctor is available so not sure of there names. good Luck

I would also happily recommend any of the GPs up at Kelburn Medical Centre. They have been fabulous. Penny Clifford is the female there.
ETA - Kelburn med is at the top of the cable car.

I use Dr Michelle Mullin at City GPs (top end of Willis St) - she's really great and would recommend to anyone... only thing is for maternity the whole practice DO charge as they opted out of the Govt subsidy scheme.

I have the best Doctor in the world. Seriously.
He has been nothing short of fantastic and I have been seeing him for about ten years now. I wouldn't see anyone else, and any other doctor I have seen just hasn't cut the mustard.
My doctor is Dr Dave Pickett from Courtenay Medical. All the staff there are amazingly good and helpful.
Can't recommend them highly enough. PM me if you want details.

I had Dr Clare O'Brien too, but changed to Newlands Medical Centre because I didn't like her. I mean, I didn't not like HER, just that I have asthma and she wasn't really controlling it, just always changing my doses everytime I went without asking me how I was finding my current dose, etc etc. But I love my new doctor (Dr Anna Davison), she's got me on an inhaler that completely controls my asthma, plus she's really good with the baby stuff too
Funny how different people have different experiences with different doctors!
