Argh! I am soooooo hungry allll the time. Granted I have a cold at the moment and am seriously sleep deprived but I seriously feel like eating all day long.

If your appetite increased in the first trimester, how did you manage it? I mean, realistically my calorie needs won't have increased much at all. I believe at this point an extra apple a day is all that is needed.

I'm trying to make healthy choices and eat filling foods but I just wanna eat!

eat girl eat i say....
so long as you are exercising then it wont matter. they say that it depends on what you want to eat, it could indicate what your body is missing or needing...

LOL well I was craving chicken nuggets, pineapple and beetroot but now it's peanut butter on toast and fruit and rice.

Not exercising much as am too sleep deprived thanks to Miss Rocking Rowdy.

Ummm your body is telling you something Fiona, it needs you to eat so it can grow little bubba! It's not a bad thing, it's perfectly normal. I ate like a garbage disposal when I was pregnant with Nyah.

HAHA I told you, you would go on to something else after your beetrot cravings.

I tried that too - just eating a little more and trying to make it fruit and vege. But my body felt like it was eating itself from inside out and only carbs would calm the ravenous beast!

It didn't affect my weight gain (was gaining average amounts throughout) so I say go for it - your body is letting you know what it needs.

I ate junk Had to eat or I would feel very sick. I'm only just starting to like veges again, and I usually love them. The best advice I was given is to just give in to your cravings (unless it's chalk lol) esp if you start having aversions to certain foods.

I'd say go for it too! In a few weeks bubs will be taking up so much room there won't be any room for food so make the most of it now!

I'm like that with this pregnancy, still can't stop eating, didn't have that problem with the girls. Remember you are running around after a toddler too so eat up.

Eat, eat, eat!!! I lived on fresh fruit and vege and heaps of potatos in my first trimester - DH told me if our baby looked like a potato it would be all my fault

Then I learnt how to make a super easy, super healthy rice risotto from scratch and packed it with veges.

Carbs and veges - nothing better!

Could you post the recipe? I always buy the rice risotto packets but I'm sure it's easy to make the flavouring myself!

mashed banana on toast with cinnamon and sugar on top
porridge
anzac biscuits always available in the cupboard (they're healthy )
If you like veges and dip, make it up in the morning and have a steady supply in the fridge so when you need a snack right now, it's right there
Cheese and pineapple
Potato salad is another thing you can make and leave in the fridge for when you need a solid pick-me-up
Macaroni cheese for lunch
Spaghetti on toast/toasties

I was exactly the same! I had people telling me to snack on fruit but only carbs would do it for me.

I thought I'd end up gaining an insane amount but I gained bang on the amount I was meant to.

Just listen to your body babe!

In between my first prenatal exam (week 11) and my 2nd check-up, I ate like a horse and thought I had gained a billion. But the scale hadn't budged at all!

Hi Kazzle

I'm now at 15 weeks but up until about 12 weeks I found I was constantly eating all day. One to keep the nausea away and two because I was always hungrey.
Did put on about 3kg in the first trimester as I was too tired to do any exercise and I found I was craving carbs in particular vegemite sandwiches(Brown bread) and the odd lolly for a quick sugar fix

Now finding that my appetite has decreased especially my desire for carbs and I don't seem to be able to eat as much or want to eat as much and my weight has remained steady. Energy levels have also come back so I am now doing a bit of exercise.

Drink plenty of water as well.
Just listen to what your body is telling you

Well today I'm just really really nauseous and can't bear the though of eating much of anything (except chocolate cake LOL!). Almost everything makes me feel sick. Amazing how quickly things change in pregnancy.

hmmm. chocolate cake! Dh just called to say there is a wheat/gluten free chocolate cake at woolworths for $4.50 but I was very self restrained and asked him NOT to buy it (as the 2 slices of giner crunch I had at breakfast time were bad enough - and I don't even have the excuse of 'eating for two').

Carbs are awesome! My DH is on a health fix at the moment and wants us to eat salads and lean meat so now I make the most of eating carbs at work and when he is not around LOL

If I have a salad I'm really really hungry 10 minutes later.

My workmates keep telling me that I don't even look pregnant apart from my bump so I think eating what you crave is the way to go
