Topic: Diet sodas...? Posted: 13 March 2006 at 3:08pm |
I have heard from a friend that diet soda's are very bad for baby, and I was wodnering if that is just urban myth or true? I cant imagine aspartamine would be that good for baby but what are the risks really?
I love my diet drinks, drink them all the time as I have a real sweet tooth. I could cut back to just one a day or so, taht would be fine, but to take them away all together...? That would be hard!
But if there is a good rason for it obviously I would do it...?
Any ideas?

diet drinks are really bad there was an article someone showed me about how the certain thing in the drink can cause harm to the developing baby.
if you look on the back of a diet drink its highlighted in bold that it contains this stuff i cant remember the name but i stay clear of them to be sure.

its the thing that starts with phyr something that is bad for you. Its the fake sugar and I was told its really bad for babies, you shouldnt give it to kids either. I think also to much of it acts like a laxative (says that on the back of sugar free gum) which I guess isnt good at the start of pregnancy of course. Anything with that phyr sugar is to be avoided. In saying that i drunk it in moderation with Kobe and he is fine.

Yeah it's the artificial sweetner in the diet drinks that are apparently the problem. There are quite a lot of articles about it, here is one of them...

i think it's called phenylketo-something lolol.
i also heard that is isn't great to drink alot of carbonated drinks during pregnancy,
that said, i allowed myself a glass of coke each day to curb the cravings. lol

I thought that the problem with carbonated drinks during pregnancy was that they either had mountains of sugar in them, or phenylalyne as a sweetner. I've found tonic water and the odd bit of diet lemonade kinda helpful with morning sickness. Moderation seems to be the key, eh. Ho hum!

I found flat lemonade good too but I must admit if I drink too much carbonated stuff (even just a glass) it can leave me feeling so bloated and yuk so I tend to stay away from it.

With the likes of Weight Watchers they say if you want fizzy drinks go for diet as it has no suger / calories in it. With pregnancy I think that fake sugar stuff is suppose to be bad. But as everyone said - in moderation. Just dont be like my partner and drink at least 2.25 litres a day !!

hehe its not good after bubs is born either lol.i was naughty and lived on the stuff untill i clicked that it wasnt helping with my daughters wind troubles.oh and if i ate pizza it made her power chuck.not a co-incecdecnce either cos the 4 times i ate it she chucked up.i think the paste was the culprit.Anyway, moderate amounts would be a good idea
