    Posted: 22 March 2008 at 11:54am
It is almost time for the capsule to go back to plunket so I need to buy a convertible carseat.

It seems that most people get a safe and sound, but there are a lot of models out there. Which model safe n sound did you get, and why?

Are there any other brands I should look at?

The Phil& Ted's bebe recline looks quite cool? any reviews?

We bought the guardian. It was good value AND on special and we already have another model very similar which has done well. It will serve your next baby from birth if you like, which will come in handy if #1 is booster seat age by that time.

We have the guardian as well, got it from K-Mart. Really happy with it still.

ETA- we love P&T stuff, but the bebe recline couldnt be bolted into the car, so we decided against it.

We're looking at car seats at the moment too.. the capsule we hired from plunket since it was only for 6mos but we can't afford to be paying for hireage on the convertables as you pay over 6 month intervals and it's 95 for each 1/2 year in Auckland It's cheaper to buy a brand new seat in the long run.

We've got Guardian's too, they were reasonably priced and came with a good reputation.

DJ, I have the Guardian, got it from Baby Dactory on special - Luke seems comfy in it and sleeps really easy etc. Seem alot safer than the capsule, so we moved him early (about a month ago)

We just got a Brio from baby on the move. So far we love it. Goes birth to 25kg. Rear facing, forward facing with 5 point harness and then full booster seat.

It was a toss up between that and a safe n sound

I got a Safe and Sound Royale. Its like a arm chair! I heard good things about it so went for that.

Bobbies one sounds good but for us we are hoping to have our second baby in the covertible and moving Bella up to a booster when she is older. Just thinking waaaay ahead

I purchased the Safe n Sound Meridian Car seat. Yes the price is up there, but the new active head restraint design was the thing that won me over. I see it as an investment in baby's safety and obviously be using it for 2-3 years with Ella and then pass on to any additional babies. I did the research and looked at all the options - even looked at the isofix systems but came across a report on a website recommending that a tether strap (which SnS have) be considered for these systems. Haven't regretted my decision.
