Ok, so I find myself over here. Bleeding started last night with cramping. Doc saw me today and feels pretty sure its a MC. She told me if the bleeding gets worse or really painful to call her and if I bleed for longer than a heavy peroid to go back but thats it.

How do I know it was a MC? I just know that I will hold on to that little "what if" even though all logic tells me it is.

So far this has not been as bad as my last AF. Granted I have only had 1 AF in the last 16 months and my memory is bad but the one I had in Jan had me taking nurofen ALL through. So far I have taken panadol once because I felt I didnt need to put up with the pain.   Now it has pretty much gone less than 24 hours since it started.

Is it normal to have a scan after or blood tests? Or should I just get over it?

Many thanks for all your support. I dont know how women go through this without Ohbaby

Hi piper, I had an early (unconfirmed) pg so no blood tests or any kind of follow up for me. I bled for two weeks with cramps and heavy bleeding for most of that time. My next period followed 7 weeks later and was similar, but the cramps were actually worse. (However it 'might' have been endo issues then b'c it was my last pg before Kryssi and I have had endo issues since her??? Anyway at the time my doc confirmed the cramps etc seemed within normal for a natural clean-out.)

If you have any ongoing issues with pain etc, contact your gp (or mw if you had one) as you may need a d&c - but sounds like your body will take care of things if this is really what it is.

3 days after I started clotting I had the 'baby blues', just the same as after having a baby - the drop off of hormones and 3 days of depression type thing.

Hope that helps. Big hugs

I had a little bit of bleeding and it seemed to stop overnight. Then the next day it came much stronger. It was heavy (for me, though compared with others it wouldn't be) for 2 days then dropped right off just enough to need a liner for 5 days and now I think it's virtually gone. Just a little when I wipe. I only had 1 significant clot too.

I've had cramps. Just like bad period cramps but that's all pain wise.

Mine was drug induced though they said it would behave much like a "normal" miscarrage.

I'm having bloods every week until my hcg level returns to 0. I have to have this because mine was ectopic so I don't know if this is standard or not.

awww hunny i am so so so sorry you are over here, with the m/c i had in jan, i started bleeding and it was just like my normal af except for day 2-3 where i had lots of cramping and heavy bleeding...it was over by day 7.

everybodys m/c is different but my doctor said if i was still bleeding after 7 days to go back and they would do a scan etc.

am thinking of you

If your doc doesn't think that you have had a m/c or that the m/c is incomplete she will probably do bloods and/or a scan to see what is going on.
My bleeding started late on wednesday, just brown when wiped and had all finished by Tuesday and was just a pantyliner on the Monday. The Thursday was bad for cramps but I only passed 3 or 4 clots and they were not that large. (at scan pregnancy had died at 4 weeks and only measured 3mm though).

It totally sucks that so many of us have ended up in here

Big hugs! It sucks whenever anyone ends up over here!

If it were me, I'd probably have a blood test for peace of mind, that will tell you if your hCG levels are returning to normal or if they are still going up in which case you could then have a scan to check viability. I guess it's extra hard in your case coz you don't have a definite idea how far along you are/were and that can make a huge difference to what is "normal".

I would definitely see your doc when they reopen and talk to him/her, in any rate they will be able to give you some advice, let you know what to expect and what to watch out for, and answer any questions you have.

I had to have a follow up hCG test 4 weeks after my last m/c to ensure my levels had returned to 0 as they found some abnormal tissue in the pathology from my d and c.

I am feeling pretty ok about the whole thing. To me it seems little more than a BFN as I hadnt had time to really adjust to the idea. I know some people feel they lost a baby but I havent got to that line of thinking yet. I still think of it as a clump of dividing cells that didnt have what it takes to move on to the next level. (how clinical is that....too much science in my background). I am more gutted about the change in our plans. November sounded like a nice time to have a baby and Tom actually looked like he had changed...more mature. So that is sad.

I think I will talk to Doc or even my MW tomorrow and ask about getting a scan or bloods done in a week or so. I just know that I will keep wondering...what if I am one of those women that has bleeding and goes on to deliver a healthy baby? and I am likely to drive myself (and anyone around me) nuts.

On a side note...I am guessing Tampons would be out this time round?

I feel much the same way as you do about it all. Too much science for me too I think.

The girls on here told me not to use tampons because of the risk of infection. No doc I saw told me that!

Hmm I never got warned off tampons either BUT I didnt use them because I wanted to see how much blood was coming.

I recently miscarried on the 19th it started of as pink spotting then bleeding much less than a period then the next day a little heavier but with some clots third day light bleeding again then it was all over by the fourth day. It was in no way like a period to me very light. I had very few cramps, more like what I thought was gas pains.
I had the repeat bloods AND a scan to make sure everything was gone... even though I would have thought that because I would be so early there was nothing to see.
Anyway 51% of people bleed and carry on to have a normal pregnancy if that gives you any hope?

Big hugs.. I was greatful when everyone did it for me and everyone grieves in a different way. I think u r very strong to be able to cope so well!

NZPiper- sounds like you've had some great advice from the ladies on here and it really does help aye?!  So sad that we need to get it at all though really IYKWIM

My m/c a couple of weeks ago started as spotting lightly and cramping on Thursday, then I started bleeding heavily enough to need a pad early Fri morning, then continued to bleed very heavily all the rest of that day, soaking about 1 pad (or folded up old flannel-I'm a hippy ) per hour. By Saturday it was mere spotting again, almost didn't need a pad. Still had mild cramps but by Sunday it was all over. Short and to the point..bit like my normal AF length-wsie (cramps were worse and bleeding heavier). No way did I bleed anywhere close to 7 days although Dr said that would've been normal too. Think because I had a D&C about 9 years ago, I don't seem to bleed that much for AF so maybe it's the same with a m/c .  Also, with my HCG, it was below 5 by the time I left the hospital on Friday, so guess I m/c pretty fast..so am lucky in some deluded sad way (in that it didn't drag on)

Hope the pain is not too bad for you physically and that yo're getting lots of support. I was also looking forward to being a November mummy, guess I will be just as lucky to be a December, January, February, March..etc etc one as well!

Hi

So sorry you are over here.

My miscarriage was brown spotting for seven days and then three days of red bleeding like a normal period for me(with strong cramps on the first day) and then five more days of spotting.

I didn't get any more blood tests done afterwards although mostly because I chart and I could tell from my temps that the hcg was probably all gone when they dropped into the pre-ovulatory temp range. If I hadn't been temping I probably would have had a test just so I knew it was over.

Look after yourself.
