my Nana is having pretty major surgery today, she was booked in for the op at 10.30 this morning and I still haven't heard anything, she has family at the hospital with her, but obviously phones can't be on, I thought she would have been done by now and I would have heard something....but nothing.

I spent the day yesterday taking her to various appointments, but couldn't be at the hospital for this because small boys and hospitals don't mix, and aparently they are really strict on visitors after surgery, so I am going in at 2pm.

But I just can't relax until I have heard something, I don't think the bottle of V and the 3 cups of coffee have helped but I am so freaking anxious.....think I might just have to go to the hospital now or i will drive myself even more mental...

just because it was scheduled for that time doesnt mean they did at that time...

have you rung the hospital to see if they can give you an update?

Try not to stress. Its prefectly normal that after major surgery the person, especially elderly would still be in recovery ward (part of theatre) at this time, and not have returned to the ward yet. Maybe your family havent even heard how it went yet either.

the worst part is I keep spending money to take my mind off things ,went to the warehouse sale, just brought a whole lot of new nappies that i really don't need, (but are so cute and minky)

I'm going to leave now and go to the hospital better to pace around there than at home, have organised to take Ethan to spend some time with someone else so I don't need to worry about him.....

will update later...

Good luck Natalie! (well... too your Nanna)

I agree with Bizzy, surgery is rarely done on schedule. Mine was over 3 hours late, then an hour in recovery - My poor DH was freaking out by the time I got back to the ward.

Hi Natalie
Hope all is well. Nothing worse than waiting.
Esp when things are later than you expected.
