Sorry dramatic I know!!!! Hehehe
Once again I'm up unable to sleep, so where better to go than trusty Oh Baby!
I'm so over the whole being pregnant scenario....and I still have 10 weeks until my due date!!
Bubs is an octopus I swear. Feels like he is bumping me from at least six different directions at once.
Heartburn isn't to bad thanks to the handy Quickeze, but with my man gargling away beside me because of his throat playing up, it might as well be me having heartburn.
I'm having serious trouble getting off the couch these days. Takes a good 5 minutes of wriggling to get into position before I can roll off... Alex thinks its hilarious to watch.
Question for you ladies....Braxton Hicks? How did they feel to you? When I was pregnant with Alex I don't remember getting them & the one time I thought I was getting them it actually turned out to be contractions so I'm abit mystified.
Today I've been getting what feels like a tight band on the top of my bump, making me breathless & it hurts alot! Its been coming & going all day but I'm not sure if its braxton hicks or just Bubs jumping up into my ribs. So any ideas ladies? I tried calling my midwives this morning but all three of them were in delivering babies, very inconsiderate of them I thought. And I just couldn't be bothered trying to call later so thought I would come in here.

My BH are a combo of two things, belly goes tight in a "band" like you described toni, but then at the same time it's like someone is squeezing me from the inside out. Almost like period pain but not painful. Sometimes I will feel really 'stretched' though when it's not BH and that is supremely uncomfortable. Basically, *hugs* !!

I feel your pain Toniellis I have tightenings but they are really low and dont hurt, just very uncomfy.I was admitted last wednesday as my blood pressure was up a bit and I had these tightenings while on the monitor and no one said anything so they obviously are BH which I have never had before.I know what you are saying about getting off the couch my kids think its funny and I told them they wont be laughing when its their turn(both girls)

I had lots of BHs with Taine, pertty much from the day we "discovered" him (16 weeks). They hurt a LOT more. Another thing they "foget" to mention, the after pains after your subsequent children are really quite sore, compared to number one. Hugs Toni!! Feel better soon. Not too long to go now!

God I'm going to sound like a moaner here, but these stupid Braxton Hicks are very painful! I definitely didn't get these last time And to make it worse, my boy has dropped quite low & it feels like he is pinching my cervix or something. Called my midwife this morning & I'm off to see her either this arvo or tomorrow morning, she is going to give me a call back.
I've definitely decided that there will be no more babies! Two boys is good enough for me.
I've even gone through & made a list of all my complaints & printed it out. Its all in bold letters taped to the fridge so I won't ever forget LOL!

Yeah I had and have the same tightening as you which were BH but when I actually went into labour I felt all my contractions and pain in my lower back like major major period pain so thats why I know this time round is still just BH that I am getting all the bloomin time.

LOL! These are definitely not contractions, no way I will ever forget those painful, horrible, hip-splitting, tear ya body apart pains!!!!!
So anyone want to remind why I want a VBAC instead of an elective C-section???
These are definitely nowhere near as painful as contractions but they still hurt. I even had a couple of panadol which is really unlike me because I hate medication. Didn't work though SIGH

(This is what you've got to look forward to as well Toni )

Apparently the contracting of your uterus after you have given birth is extra painful.
Can someone please confirm??? I just got enlightened today by a friend who has a 2 year old and a new one.

Sorry to scare ya... I'm sure it's no worse than giving birth! Just unexpected.

And sorry Toni... lotsa hugs too! (as well as my unhelpful comments!) xox

oh thats alright then, i thought this must have been one of those things that people dont tell you about, you know. I dont remember any major pain after but I had an epidural so that might have helped.

Oh thanks alot Nikki!!!! Lol I wasn't really worried about afterpains until you brought it up....Guess thats another thing to put on my "REASONS FOR HAVING NO MORE KIDS" list
Actually I don't think I got afterpains last time....either that or I didn't feel them thanks to the morphine I was on after my c-section.....
I have heard they get worse the more kids you pop out but who knows? Fun fun!
Well my midwife DIDN'T get back to me! Grrrr.... I just rung to find out she is at yet ANOTHER labour....Sheesh all these inconsiderate women having their babies when I need to see my midwife!
Still lots of BHs & I think my ribs are going to dislocate again or already have because they really really hurt. I should stop whining I suppose & toodle down to see my doctor since my midwife can't see me but I just can't be bothered getting in the car & driving to town.

I know what Nikki's talking about... when you feed your baby, it releases hormones that make the uterus contract and move back down into your pelvis... second time around IT BLOODY HURTS!!!!

I barely noticed it with Kiya, but was often in tears the first day or so with Josiah... especially if I wasn't sitting up properly.

yep i never had any after pains at all with paris - but with Ayja it was very uncomfy and painful each time i fed for a week at least, like bad bad period pain/contractions - after 1st birth i didn't take any panadol when the nurses offered it to me, but this time after having Ayja i was like "when's the 4-6 hours up already, i want more!!" they do taper off though eventually - i cannot remember the exact point they stopped happening, but i do remember wondering when they would start to go away, and even though i had been told about afterpains, i didn't think they would be so sore, so got a bit worried at first when they were worse than i expected.

oh yeah - Toni, go to the doc already - you seriously sound like you might be having contractions - they can be different from 1st time to 2nd time depending on position of baby etc. especially if you are feeling some pains/twinges near your cervix. just my opinion, you can tell me to go jump, just thought it might be good if anythings happening for you to make sure your midwife can actually fit you in, lolol, sounds like a busy lady. Hey you live near Matamata don't you?
