Just came across a very well written wee article that I thought I would share. Not a 'nice' read but very thought provoking...

witness

I totally agree with what the author has written. I think we're very lucky in NZ that we're allowed to have opinions like this about war and not be accused of being 'anti NZers' - unlike so many Americans who are told they're anti-American for disagreeing with the war on Iraq. We are very blessed!

Sorry it's a bit heavy but just felt the need to share...

Thanks for sharing arohanui.

A lot of Americans have a really screwed up view (just reading the comments on it) on the war in Iraq.

Here's another thing to think about: my DH (who's in the army) is constantly abused if he goes anywhere in his uniform, called a 'baby killer' and told that they are killing innocent people in Afghanistan and East Timor. What most people don't realise is that we live in such a great country that our husbands and fathers are over there cleaning up the mess that the Americans made. Thats all the kiwis do in Afghanistan - security for rebuilding where the Americans have bombed.

And OMG that person said about the Iraqis causing 9/11? Um... I thought they were blaming Osama? Oh no that's right, guess they had to have an excuse to get to the oil supply eh?

emz that's horrible! The Kiwi forces do an amazing job with the peacekeeping etc that they do. And let's not forget their families who have to do without them for huge amounts of time.

Gosh emz that sucks your DH is treated like that.

There's this protest group in the States who disagree with the troops going over to Iraq but they take it WAY too far. They go to the funerals of men who've died while serving and protest with big banners and stuff. It's really disgusting, the poor grieving family and friends.

But the awesome thing is, there's this bikie gang headed by a guy who I think is a pastor. Hundreds of them. They turn up at these funerals with big American flags and loud music/motorbikes to block out all the protesters. It's so cool! I saw a video on it, will see if I can hunt it out...

It can certainly go too far on both sides of the fence can't it.

Ooo found it. You totally have to look at this, what the bikers are doing is so cool

Protecting a funeral

So apparently the protesters believe that the reason 9/11 happened and the reason troops are dying is cos God is punishing America for homosexuality! That is so messed up! I'm glad these bikers are standing up for who God is.
