Yep, take her to the dr so they have a record of it. Once you have a few in a row like that you can ask to see an ENT to look at getting grommets.

I so understand your pain with the, Andrew was a shocker with ear infections.

I hear you Kandice...Bella is grabbing her ears again only 2 weeks after the last lot of ABs!!! I'm not taking her to the doctor, I don't want her on anymore AB's for now, so have just been giving regular pamol and then I'm going to talk to the ENT doctors at work to see what the next step is...But I agree with Becks, keep going to your GP for a record of occurrences for when you go to see the ENT guys (and I can recommend one or two if you like )

Also try her with some pamol first as it could be just the last of the irritation leaving.

Yeah we had them often. Got the grommets and then was fine and then they came out and he got an infection 2 days later. Took a bit from me to get them back in (as in I told the useless reg that I want to see the spec privately), but once I saw the spec again he was all for getting the back in asap.

Interesting to read your post Emma, Ava has had 2 ear infections in the last 8 months, one course of AB's for the EI.

I think everyone is right, keep going to the Dr's to get it on record.

I really feel for my DD when she is unwell, which is quite alot just now, I wish there was more that I could do! But I suppose getting lots of huggs will have to do!

KylahsMum, saw your post in the Jan thread... and in case Arohanui hasn't gotten back to you yet, I saw some of the medicine dummies in the Baby Factory! It's got a bit at the back of the dummy where you add the medicine, and bubs just sucks it out when she's sucking. Didn't catch the price though.

Just to send some thoughts out there....

I had trouble with my ears as a kid, and had grommets put in my ears at the age of 2. At the age of 13, I was diagnosed with a milk allergy. The link between ear infection and allergy (milk) has since been scientifically linked.

Laura has had 1 ear infection so far, and the doc did prescribe ABs, but I waited for 24 hours (as the doc said the ears were only pink, and not too inflamed) and didn't give them to her. I later heard form another doc that a study had confirmed that ABs were only good for a small number of instances.

"over 80 percent of children with ear infections get better within 3 days without antibiotics. This is largely because most ear infections are caused by germs that do not respond to antibiotics. We also know that prescribing antibiotics too often can make the bacteria that cause some ear infections resistant to these medications. This means the antibiotics can't work effectively."

If Laura ends up with more ear infections, my first choice will be to see a homopath, and cut out all dairy.
