Hi girls,

This morning I had a very unexpected major nose bleed whilst out for a walk with my son (luckily my mum was with me). It was so bad that I had to go to A&E to get it checked out (all is well now though thank god!). Have many of you experienced nose bleeds throughout your pregnancy? I hope that I don't get one again as it scared the crap out of me!

Yup I had them a lot. Not fun at all, and some of them were really heavy and lasted a long time like you describe.
My midwives never seemed concerned though.

I got lots too - mine never seemed to be as bad as your one but I don't think it is anything to worry about. I remember reading in a book that it is common.
I hope you don't get any more like that either.

Yeah I got them lots but never that badly and mentioned it to midwife who said it was normal but as yours required going to A & E I would mention it to your midwife next visit as she may have some suggestions.

I remember waking up with one at about 3am one morning when I was about 6 or 7 weeks pregnant, but I havent had one since(touch wood). I have read that they are quite common during pregnancy though.

I agree with cuppatea though, seems as yours was quite bad I would mention it to your midwife. Mine was just a normal blood nose and only lasted 5 mins or so.

Thanks for your responses. It's good to know that they are relatively common throughout pregnancy - I never experienced them with first pregnancy so was quite shocked! Hopefully it won't happen again.
