Hi Ladies,

I have been still getting migraines all the time and I absolutely cant stand them. I am only allowed to take Panadol and I do but Im starting to feel guilty. I take 2 every 4 hours so about 12 a day. Apparently its no harm to baby but cant help thinking there is. What do you think?

Hello!!! I logged in (naughty as I am at work).
You poor thing - still got that hanging on.

I was thinking about your headaches...maybe you could pop into or ring up Hardys at Bayfair or one of the health shops and ask one of their "natural people". They might have some ideas......especially if you have worries about the Panadol?

I really do feel for you - as I use to suffer all the time with these and also head aches. All the best and hope they go away soon.

Bugger, migrains are awful things

I know everybody is different but I used to go and have my kneck cracked to realign everything. A little drastic and I hated having it done despite there being no pain involved. I used to have that awful fear of waking up dead so to speak like when they crack necks on the movies!!!!! Used to feel so much better though.

Perhaps bub has moved things around a bit in there or possibly putting pressure somewhere to cause the migrains.

Also some peoples diet can affect migrain activity. Do you drink a lot of coke?

I have a friend who used to suffer dreadfully from them, 2-4 a month. She tried everything and ended up in desperation at a natropath who prescribed a series of natural remedies. She hasn't had a migraine in 2 years!!

Everybody is different I know but seeing you are concerned about the quantity of panadol you should look for some alternative relief. I personally hated taking anything too when I was pregnant.

Ohhh have you had your ears checked? Could you possibly have an ear infection causing them?

I take Panadol for regular (grrr!) headaches, and I too don't like the idea of baby getting any of it. But my midwife checked with a Doc and told me that Panadeine is also safe in pregnancy, if you need something a little stronger. You'd probably want to check with your midwife rather than take my 2nd-hand word for it, but I was relieved to not only have Panadol as an option for when a whopper hits - not nice!
Also, it's great to drink as much water as you can to avoid the headaches... I find they strike anyway, but less often when I keep my water intake up.
Also, I've been told that if you're normally predisposed to headaches, they'll be more frequent in pregnancy but not the whole time - up to about 20 weeks or so. A little light at the end of the tunnel?? maybe just a glow-worm there.

The only thing I'd be a little concerned about is that I think you're not meant to take more than 8 in a 24 hour period. But other than I've been popping them back at the prescribed rate...I've had wicked headaches for the last 2 weekends...I think mainly related to how achy my neck has been! Not fun!
