Topic: some bad news Posted: 17 May 2008 at 11:48am |
yesterday after the Hamilton Ohbaby meet I came home nothing out of the ordinary and sat down to feed Megan a minute or so later I noticed our video tapes and vcr was all messed up...I have a closer look and noticed our DVD player has gone.
So I go to check the front door (I come in through the back) thats ok..then I go down to the hallway and dvd player is sitting there.
I then look in our bedroom and see that they have smashed the window of our french door..so I phone 111 and ask for police (hopefully they will be here today to take fingerprints)
Thank goodness for insurance..this is the 2nd time in 2 weeks that we have had a break in ..first time they never actually got in.
The police caught the 3 offenders minors..we had a family group conference with 2 of the 3 and from what my DH and I could tell the 2 boys seemed genuinely sorry for what they had done,.,we suspect it may be the 3rd person who we have not had a family group conference with.
far as we can tell the only thing the offender took was a digital camera which doesn't even go.
we are going to be getting an alarm and hopefully stop this happening again

that stinks!! Hamilton is really bad for break-ins. Do you mind me asking where you live? We are in Fairfield (I know the "bad" part of town) Oh and did you end up getting a dryer?

Oh man I would of thought Chartwell would of been ok! Good that they caught the little buggers!
We live in the most broken in area of the city but luckily with the shift work you can't really case the joint and I go out randomly, plus there's always people in the flats next door.
That so sucks, it's a yucky feeling when people have been in your stuff, I have had car break-ins and one car actually stolen, it was a piece of crap Ford hehe and they wrote all over it with vivid! My bf had to clean off the swear words with turps before the cops would let him take it home. I sold it for $100, I couldn't stand to look at it.

Oh no Jasmine that's awful!
When we used to live in your area we were broken into and I hated being in the house after that, it just makes you feel icky knowing people have been through the house ... we sold that house about 3 months later.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Hugs Megansmum, that's awful! We were broken into just over a year ago while we were asleep, the thieves are getting so damn bold these days!
Random observation but last week's Weekend Herald did a feature on burglary and apparently Hamilton is the burglary hotspot of the country.

Thats horrible. In my old place we also got broken into 2 times within a fortnight. Its definately a horrible feeling. We're lucky where we are (touch wood) as we are a back property, and you can never tell if I'm home or not if the door is closed.
*hugs*

That sucks
It's so scary when that happens.
We used to live in Chartwell (for 9 months in 2001) and there seemed to be a permanant police patrol there
