What thermometre do you have? Are those ear ones better?
Kylah just started crying aout an hour ago and threw up EVERYWHERE, all over DF, the floor, the rug and then when we thought it had stopped the floor all over ago. Luckily most of its on the lino.

I have one of those cheapo under arm, tommy tippee ones, the white one with the little screen that takes FOREVER to tell you the temp.. Just not sure i trust it, she felt very hot, i gave her pamol and shes gone to sleep now..

We have a digital ear thermometer. Have used it so many times and it's great for taking the temp quickly..fast enough to get a reading before she turns her head to see what it is!

Aww poor bubba Kylah!! I have a digital thermometer, one that goes under the arm, Tommee Tippee one. But my sister has an ear one and I've used that a few times and it's heaps better and you get a fast reading. A nurse taking a course I went to said that the ear ones weren't very accurate on small babies because their ear canal is so tiny. On the one we bought (Braun I think??) it said suitable for 2 year olds +. The nurse said the best ones were the old mercury type if you could still find them because if the baby had a temperature, the mercury shoots up really fast and it's really obvious.
We have a digital one for under the arm and that works okay but is hard trying to hold it there for the required amount of time.

Do you still have your instructions for the underarm one? Reason I ask is that ours says to add .5 of a degree to the underarm reading for it to be correct and .5 can be the difference between having or not having a fever.
Hope she feels better soon

i have both i like the tommee tippee one the best as no kids like having things jamed in there ears and the doc and plunket and my mw said when you use the ear ones you have to actually get a seal around it to get a correct temp reading which isnt the easiest to do
 hope kylah getts better soon

That's strange you have all heard that the digital ear ones are inaccurate because even the doctors use them when we have taken Alyssa in.. Their readings always match ours too. I know you have to get it in the right spot, but you can tell if you are doing it wrong cause you know the reading doesn't match what your'e feeling in body temp.

We've got an ear one and the old mercury ones. I have to say I trust the older one more than the air one.
 Hows Kylah today Kandice?
