Topic: AAAH DENTIST Posted: 22 May 2008 at 7:26pm |
while finally being able to brush jake's teeth - usually he does his own - I found a black looking hole in his back molar. I registered with plunket AGES ago to organise dental treatment here, but as per usual, they never got back to me, so am unsure how to get him into a clinic. do I just rock up to a school dental clinic? or a normal dentist? or what? any ideas?

Just ring Central Normal dental clinic and ask for him to be seen, that is what I did for Andrew.

Yup, what Becks said. Or you could call your Plunket nurse and have them chase it up.

I would bother with the plunket nurses here in Palmy they will just tell you to call the school.
The nurse at central normal is lovely - really good with Andrew when he first went.

Teehee Liz I'm not sure what's worse - I HAVE been, but when I went he said I had 6 fillings that needed replacing within six months, and that was ummmm, well pre-gremlins anyway...

PAH ! you think you hate them ?! try working for them , they're so grumpy .....
yeah liz , call plunket, or just rock on up to your nearest school dentist or wherever you choose to take him (heaps of parents prefer to use actual dentists rather than dental nurses) .
They probably wont do much to it, just pack it with some medication and put a coating over it, they try to make it as untraumatic for them as possible usually -until you get older , then they hit you with all the fillings and THEN the price

if its a walk in place where you don't need an appointment , just drop in , if you drop in otherwise, dont expect that you'll necessarily get an appointment that day but you may be able to make an appointment , plus it will be a good chance to show Jake where you will be going, otherwise just ring them .
If its not hurting him or its not sensitive to hot or cold it can wait for a little bit

You would def need to make an appointment to see the dental nurse at Central Normal. I rang her on Friday afternoon and got an appointment to see her the following Wednesday.
You have just reminded me to get my boys seen before we head to Sibiera.

Ring a school dental clinic in your area and skip the Plunket thing. They delayed ours as well. We ended up being the ones who pushed and by that time Hannah was 4. So much for preschool enrolments!

Good idea, you could try and get an appointment just after they finish at daycare.
