When I discussed contraception with my GP when we talked about the iud he said it doesn't stop you getting pregnant. It just stops it implanting in your uterus so I'm not allowed to have it as I'm already high risk for ectopics. But like any contraception I doubt its 100%

Sorry I doubt that is much help but its all I know

The chances of getting pregnant with a Mirena are next to nothing, but there is always a risk.
It is normal for your periods to stop or become erratic with the Mirena, mine sometimes goes away for a few months and then I'll start getting regular monthly spotting again and then nothing again.
I'd suggest going to your docs for bloods if you can, just to find out for sure as there is the increased risk of ectopic with Mirena as well, and then if its not pregnancy they can try to work out what's making you feel so yuck.
Good luck chicky!

What CaraMel said. My m/w told me that the failure rate for the MIrena is less than .5% which is the same as sterilisation, so it's pretty safe, but like anything, not failproof.
