What on earth is up with illness this year. Yet again I am sick with the flu, blocked nose and coughing yuck stuff.

I am trying to figure out why, but this is my 6th week of having something - I think I have had the flu twice and tonsilitis once!

Is anyone else suffering?!

I am stuffed up as well. I think mine is due to the big change of weather I have just had.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Oh, you poor thing!!

I wonder if you have a deficiency (like aneamia or something) which is leaving you run down and more susceptible to illness.  You should go to the doc and get tests done.

Is there a chance that you might have glandular fever?  Here's a list of symptoms:

Initial symptoms commonly include:

  • Loss of appetite
  • Chills
  • Mental and physical fatigue/weakness
  • Aching muscles.

These symptoms are usually followed 2-3 days later by:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Sore, reddened throat with enlarged tonsils
  • Swollen glands in the neck, armpits and/or groin

Who have you been kissing recently  'cos both Becks and Kels have had GF this year.

Is Charlotte ok now?

I hope you feel better soon.

Oh no!

I'm on my second cold of the season.
Not the flu though - Only had that once and it knocked me out for weeks - I had glandular fever not long before that.
So perhaps Jo's onto something?

I'm off to the doc today. Mainly for Hannah's 5 month imms, but I've booked myself in to get an iron test ordered. Maybe worth doing?

Haha, Jo. I dont think I have glandular fever. My doctor assures me you can only get it once.

However, I did just research it and in very rare cases you can get it more than once.

After thinking about it I am wondering if I should ask for a blood test anyway?

I just rang and spoke to the nurse. I have said I want a blood test and she was like "well, it won't change how we treat you for it".

I KNOW that but I want to know, IYGWIM.

Apparently its quite rare to get it more than once but hey, the symptoms match perfectly.

I never believe doctors when they tell me that.  Then again I've had chicken pox twice and my sister recently had tonsilitis.... even though she hasn't had tonsils for 20 years.

IMO doctors don't know nearly as much as they'd like us to think they know.

Can you pester them into giving you the test or go and see another doc?
