Any tips for weaning the wee fella off the safety sleep? He just rolls over in it now and gets stuck on his tummy....so we are trying daytime sleeps without it. Problem is - he thinks that means he can party in his cot. We have had no joy today in getting him to sleep - little monkey!!

Any suggestions?

I just had to make Brenna go cold turkey at 10 months cause she was getting out of it - even when I pinned it!!

Once I took it away, I thought she'd never sleep again! lol But she surprised me with how quick she got used to it and I think after about 1 week? she was sleeping fine again.

Good luck

Thanks Brenna!! We have figured out today that if he is really tired when we put him into bed and in his s-t-s, then he will not roll over, and he will fall asleep....it seems to be that if he isnt that tired then thats when he rolls around in it. I think its going to be a bit of trial and error as we still want to use it on a night for him.

Ella used to roll around in hers as well, so one day I just decided to stop using it. For the first while she kept crawling around her cot, and wouldn't sleep but I just left her to it and eventually (can't remember how long) she got used to it and now when I put her down for a nap she walks around her cot for a while and then just falls asleep in whatever position she ends up in.

I don't think Keziah has ever rolled over in hers, but she certainly undoes it when we put her to sleep during the day and ends up in some really bizarre positions LOL

Daniel did this, I just ditched it for daytime and left him to crawl around in his cot, eventually he would fall asleep and now there is much less fuss.

I then had to ditch it at night time one night when he threw up all over it and he slept fine so haven't had it on since.

You could also try using a sleeping bag as well just for an added sense of security but with limited movement?

Spencer always goes to bed easier at night so we ditched it for that sleep first, the first few nights we really pinned him in with the blankets and then slowly made it looser so he got use to the freedom. Now he roams his bed and falls to sleep in some bizaar positions, but is in a pekemoe so takes his blankets with him

We went cold turkey too...Bella crawled around her cot for about an hour before collapsing from exhaustion and a few days after that she went to sleep just fine. She never sleeps on her back now, much prefers her tummy, so we just put her straight on her tummy and she usually drops off within 5 minutes. We also use a sleepsuit or sleepsack as opposed to sheets/blankets and she has her heater on as she tends to move around a bit in her sleep.
