This is my round one of morning sickness and I am not a terribly patient patient! Even though I'm not chucking, I feel nauseous all day long and at times wonder if I'm going to have to make a dash for the bathroom... so I need some answers please

1. What was your worst ms week?
2. When did it subside by?
3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement?
4. When (if so) did you decide that you need to ask your mw for help? (ie is it worth me asking my mw for some ms tablets etc even though I'm not actually chucking?)

For my most recent pregnancy...

1. What was your worst ms week? 7-10
2. When did it subside by? It didn't, I threw up every morning from 5 weeks til the day I was induced at 39 weeks.
3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement? Lemonade iceblocks.
4. When (if so) did you decide that you need to ask your mw for help? (ie is it worth me asking my mw for some ms tablets etc even though I'm not actually chucking?) I rang her at 7 weeks when I physically couldn't get out of bed, every time I stood up I vomitted and my BP was so low I was dizzy all the time, she told me to go straight to hospital and I stayed there for 4 days on IV fluids and anti emetics.

In my experience none of the antiemetics help the nausea, they do reduce the incidence of vomiting but they don't stop the yucky feeling. I tried all the natural stuff like ginger, seabands, Vit B6, Naturopharm Morningmed etc. but nothing made a difference, I just learned to live with it.

I dont remember the answer to the first 3, but for the tablets, i was on them to stop me throwing up. Didnt make the feeling sick go away, it just stopped me actually throwing up every hour of the day!

1. What was your worst ms week? 7 on

2. When did it subside by?12 weeks

3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement? sea bands, steak/cheese pies and chicken potato chips

4. When (if so) did you decide that you need to ask your mw for help? (ie is it worth me asking my mw for some ms tablets etc even though I'm not actually chucking?) My mw doesn't believe in anti nausea pills and said to keep fluids up and as long as I was managing to keep some food down (see #3) then I would be okay.

1. What was your worst ms week?  6-10 weeks
2. When did it subside by? When the drugs finally kicked in at about 10 weeks
3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement? Ginger Ale and the drugs
4. When (if so) did you decide that you need to ask your mw for help? (ie is it worth me asking my mw for some ms tablets etc even though I'm not actually chucking?) I rang my MW in tears and I went and saw her and she gave me a script.

I don't really remember much about my ms although the worst time was probably about 12wks; DH was out with work and had no cellphone, my parents were overseas and I was sick not long after dinner, I was sick again and there was blood. I freaked out and didn't know what to do. I rang SIL but my bro answered as SIL was also in tears due to work and study stress. So my poor brother had 2 hysterical females to deal with. After the OK at the A&E I was told I just damaged my stomach lining.

From then on I was really worried about ms. For me I discovered that if I felt nauseous I just concentrated on breathing really slowly and calmly and it went away shortly afterwards. I don't remember being sick after that

1. What was your worst ms week? 7 -8 weeks
2. When did it subside by? 10 weeks
3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement? Switching to a citrus toothpaste, the mint made me gag. I ate/craved lots of fruit. This gave me a longer sugar high than chocolate.
I would also make a concoction of a smoothie every morning and sip it slowly at work. Hot chips was a regular occurrence also, for the salt I think.

1. What was your worst ms week? 2-4 month

2. When did it subside by? 8th month improved

3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement? crunchie bars, potato chips

4. When (if so) did you decide that you need to ask your mw for help? (ie is it worth me asking my mw for some ms tablets etc even though I'm not actually chucking?) My midwife seemed to be against taking anything. For my next one I will definately be asking about them as I had a looonnng pregnancy and felt like I was dying. I would recommend asking your MW the pros and cons and make a decision.

All the best and fingers crossed it subsides for you soon

1. What was your worst ms week? 7 onwards
2. When did it subside by? 20 weeks this pg, last time from week 2 until delivery!
3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement? seabands, pies, hot chips - and no I didn't pile on the weight, i'm still 2 kgs under my pre pg weight!
4. When (if so) did you decide that you need to ask your mw for help? (ie is it worth me asking my mw for some ms tablets etc even though I'm not actually chucking?) Didn't ask either time, just dealt with it and kept her informed of how I was doing.

Good luck, MS sucks, but then youv'e got the heartburn/reflux still to come which is a real delight too!!

Hi busymum, like you I feel really nauseous, but don't actually throw up.
I'm 11 weeks now, and it's still going on, I actually think it's gotten a bit worse since last week.

It does help though to eat really regularly. I don't eat much (a piece of fruit, dry toast or dry cracker often), but if I leave more than 1,5 to 2 hours between eating I feel really really sick. So I try to keep the gap down. I still feel sick, but not nearly as bad.
Bit of a pain at work obviously, but I just sneak something into my mouth every now and then.

Like somebody mentioned before, I find icelollies very good too, especially in de evening. I particularly like the tiptop popsticles Swell.

Good luck!

I find this helpful anytime I feel sick. I absolutely 'fear' vomiting and find this calm breathing helps.

I've hd 3 babies and each I think ms started around 5 weeks until around 12-14 weeks. With my first (I was only 17) I kept complaining of pain in my stomach and vomiting, to my doctor. He basically said I was young and naive about pregnancy. I finally saw a locum when he was away, and lo and behold - I had appendisitis (sp)!! So out they came, and the sickness stopped immediately!!

I read the following in an old Thats Life. It may help you.

"A teaspoon of apple-cider vinegar mixed with a teaspoonof honey in a glass of warm water is a old remedy for morning sickness - it worked a treat for me!"

A friend of mine who had hyperemesis couldn't keep anything down. And was recommened Lime myzone...and she found this to be the only thing she kept down.

I hope you find something in this thread that helps and that you feel better really quick!

Theresa I can only help with the rememdies question. This is what I do and so far its worked.

In the morning I have:

1 x Up and Go (thats all I can stomach at that time of the morning)
1 x Ginger tablet (The Travel/motion sickness one)
1 x Fish tablet (more for the omega 3 rather than a MS solution)

When I start to feel nauseous I eat crackers or fruit and that tends to help. Eating small regular portions has been the key for me. I hope it clears up soon it really does suck !!!!!

1. What was your worst ms week?
wk 12
2. When did it subside by?
hasn't yet - 15 weeks in now.
3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement?
an IV! But seriously, Soda/tonic & lime helps, toast, toast, toast. Naked (unfilled) bagels.
4. When (if so) did you decide that you need to ask your mw for help?
After talking to mine I was left with the impression that so long as you're able to keep food and fluids down, there's little point in anti-emetics (which are for stopping vomiting, and you're just lucky if they stop you feeling nauseous).

Hi, i so feel for you! I had Hyper-remisis (sever morning sickness) with my first, from week 2 to 15! vomiting 10 - 20 times a day, hospitalised twice and i found the drugs dont work except through an IV. Wouldnt recommend it if your not vomiting though, they can be damaging.
Make sure you let your midwife know if you are vomiting more the 6 times a day or cant keep down water.
Sea Bands were my saving grace. i always felt so much worse if i took them off.
With number 2 i wore them from week 3 when the nausea kicked in (im terrified of vomiting now!) and had a reasonably good time with it.
Best food was carrots. Stay away from anything acidic (tomatoes etc) as they just make it worse.
Morning sickness herbal supplement, i think its blackmores or Weleda helped too,
Flat gingerbeer is actually really nice and the ginger helps the nausea.
Good luck, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. it will all be so worth it when you are holding your little baby.

1. What was your worst ms week? Weeks 6-10
2. When did it subside by? 11 Weeks
3. Best anti-nausea food or supplement? Seabands, strawberry milk, toast with vegemite and McDonalds Filet of Fish!
4. When (if so) did you decide that you need to ask your mw for help? (ie is it worth me asking my mw for some ms tablets etc even though I'm not actually chucking?) I didn't really think it was that bad so never asked for anything.

Eating pretty much non stop helped, so snacking on crackers, raisins, chippies. I did vomit every day at least twice between 6-10 weeks unfortunately but it wasn't much and I helped it along by drinking a big glass of water when I knew it was going to happen (so I had something to actually throw up!)

Basically the same answers as Maya (almost identical). Except worst weeks were around 10-18 weeks, and I got 3 weeks off at the end (of not throwing up anymore).
