Topic: When you are sick... Posted: 02 August 2008 at 12:34pm |
...who looks after you???
I have the flu and a sinus infection on top of that. Dh is stuck at camp today, but hopefully coming home soon. And I don't really know anyone here to help me out either.
...do you eat food??
I am so hungry but the thought of food makes me even more sick (which isn't that great for the boys who want feeding). I am drinking Vita Quench as that is the only thing my stomach can handle, and i'm not drinking very much of that, about 3/4's of a 750ml bottle a day.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I do, oh and my bed is my long lost friend when I'm unwell. Sometimes I eat sometimes I don't depending on what kinda unwell. Always keep your fluids up though, being dehydrated only makes me feel worse.

DH took 1.5 days off last week to look after me. I have had a respitory infection and given that I have sever asthma, I cant afford to muck around too much. I am a lot better now, but still coughing like a pack a day smoker!
I dont have anyone that can help out really either, my mum loves close but works fulltime, and my brother doesnt drive so coudlnt get to me (and he is a SAHD to a 3 yr old!)

...who looks after you???
No one generally - I tend to fend for myself. But DH & gran will take care of the girls where possible so I don't pass anything on.
...do you eat food??
Depends what it is. I had a tummy bug a few weeks ago and was totally off food. Generally, if I'm hungry, I'll eat as I think my body knows best

About a month ago I had a tummy bug and I had put my neck out, so I was basically incapacitated. My DH was working out of town for two days so I couldn't get any help from him. So I struggled on my own feeling very sorry for myself as I took care of my 10kg + immobile Daughter. But in hindsight, I realise that I could have called on my Mum or MIL and they would have helped without question, I think it was my stupid pride that stopped me from asking!

Me! I have to look after myself, last time I was sick and DH stayed home to look after me he just sat on the computer all day and i ended up having to make him lunch If I'm really sick I will get the MIL to look after the girls or just send my oldest to her aunties next door. Oh how I miss the days where it used to be nice to be sick and you could lie in bed all day being waited on hand and foot

I look after myself most of the time, if it's a weekend I stay in bed. If I ask for help I get it. DH will take time off work to look after me or "work" from home.
And DH will buy me anything I feel like eating at the time.

Lew, mum and nana look after me...or more realistically, look after kids while I moan and groan in the bedroom.

What she said! If I don't run the house it falls apart, I can't afford to get sick!
Altho my friends were great thru months of me being incapacitated with hyperemesis.

If I'm really bad, DH stays home from work. I still have to take care of bubs and cook tea but he does all the housework, cleaning and takes care of Janaya as well.
When hes not home I have a great friend who comes and takes Jackson for a few hours so I can get some sleep. Ive been sick 4 times since Jackson was born.
